compressor protection on zoned system

Is there a way on a single unit with two zones (t-stats) to protect the compressor from starting right after one zone turns it off. i.e. if the down stairs is cool, the t-stat tells the unit to turn off. Less that a minute later the upstairs t-stat calls for cooling and the unit turns on.

I understand that each t-stat has a built-in delay of 5 minutes after the compressor turns off; but is there a way for the t-stats to know what the other is doing?

Have a contractor install a time delay on the outdoor unit if your zone system does not have one built in. Definatly needs to be done by a pro to get the right one and set up
