Need to transport an old Kenmore upright freezer. Not sure if I can lay it down on its side in the bed of my truck to haul it or if it must remain upright.
Anyone know?
Thanks.

Its fine to lay them on their side, but it is recommended that you let it stand upright for 12-24 hours after doing so before plugging it in. That being said, I've frequently plugged them in immediately and never had a problem.

I've done the same thing. If they start up fine then they're OK. If they don't start up fine then let equalize for awhile. Also make sure the ride didn't adversly affect any compressor mount arrangement.

Next question. I've never destroyed one before. Can I cut the top out, build and extention or top hat of sorts for it?
This one has a temp dial in it. Figure it will go up to 32+ degrees. Thinking I'm gonna make it into my deer cooler for bow season. :)
Need enough room to hang.
Thanks.

Hack it up to your hearts content. Just don't slice off any embedded condensor coils or tubing going to the evaporator.
You could probably safely add up to 20-20% more area without adversely affecting it's operation as long as well insulated. However you might see unacceptable temp variance top to bottom.
