Hi, new homeowner looking to get a new CAC (not a DIYer). Too hot to skip getting one this year.

what are your opinions on the American Standard Allegiance 13 Contemporary 4A7A3, Payne P83A, Keeprite N4A3, York LX YCJD/Latitude TCGD, Carrier Comfort 13, Payne PA13/PA3A or the Goodman GSX13 (with a 10-year labor warranty with Goodman). I'm looking for durability and that the unit will work, among the cheaper alternatives.

I'm looking in particular at the American Standard and Goodman. I know Goodman is low end, but will I have problems with the GSX13 if I get a good contractor to install? It's for a new house so I certainly don't mind replacing it in 10-15 years time. I figure Goodman, despite its problems, will at least get me 10 years of functioning after I buy the extended warranty, and will still be hundreds cheaper? Is my logic flawed?

Can some people chime in as soon as possible please? I'm dying in this heat. Thanks a lot.

P.S. What's the reason for mounting the unit above the ground in the side of the house? I remember someone saying I shouldn't it'll cause noise vibrations?

As long as the unit is sized and installed correctly you shouldn't have problems.

Installation aside, make sure that it uses R410A to reduce future repair/maintenance costs. (R22 is being phased out)

What problems are you referring to? A goodman unit should last as long as any other.
