Ok, i know this isnt an install shame but I'm sure you have all experienced this at one point or another. This was the week from hell for me. Throwing out my back earlier in the week put me way behind in my schedule and made the later part of the week sunlight free. Left early in the am and returned when it was dark every day. Needless to say, not too much of a chance to keep the van clean. I went out this morning to clean the van and had to laugh when i opened the doors. I took some pics for you to see the mess I had created. If I ever let things get this bad again, I promise to shoot myself. The last pic is of my mobile work trailer that ended up getting trashed as well.

I am constantly trying to impress my apprentices with how important it is keep their vehicles clean and neat because of the impression it makes on customers. I am especially on them about NEVER placing anything on the dash.
I copied the photos for use in class where I will project them on a large screen using my computer projector. I promise not to let them know who the contractor is.
I have gotten many great digital photos for classroom instructional use off this site. Thanks again guys.

Why? See something you want? LOL
I live in the hicks..... almost no crime here. Can run out to my mailbox in my boxers and not have to worry about scaring anyone to death. I wouldnt have had it any other way. I have lived in Novi, farmingtom hills and walled lake michigan and worked out of detroit. Not for me.... I'm happy here where cow tipping is a local sporting event.
Yes I am a plumber as well.... 85% HVAC 15% Plumbing and electrical. Pays the bills on hvac down times. AC work here is almost non existant here.... not a very wealthy area. Seeing how AC is a want and not a need... I dont do as much of it as I would like so I have to fall back on other avenues such as plumbing /elec.

Is that a bottle of snoop leak detector on the dash? If so how do you like it?
And did you finnish that cup of coffee, or did that hard left hand turn finnish it for you?
I've had many people laugh at me at the gas station when I squeegee the inside of my windows..lotsa snot rockets

Yes we should keep our vans and trucks as neat as possible but once in a while it may happen. The pressure to get from job to job can be enormous.
It seems to me that it is far too easy to critique someone else from behind a desk in an air conditioned classroom.

You assume too much about me since I am a full-time instructor. I own a fully equipped 1997 Savanna van ready to run service calls. I am not cemented to a desk, I can and do service work. Have taught full-time for 20 years but run service every summer and prior to that worked for contractors for 14 years.
You took my comments too personally as I also have to "clean out" my van on occasion. The point is, that it is important to customer relations and marketing to keep it neat and clean. But, there is never anything on my dash, ever!

I didn't take anything personally, Norm.
I simply found your attitude condescending, that's all.
Crap on the dashboard happens to be one of my pet peeves as well.

one of my old co-workers had his van broken into but they didnt get any of his tools because they couldnt find them under all the junk, a lesson to be learned?

I found out that the best way of keeping others from work using my van on my days off are to keep it just like that. I took a couple days off last week and they were a van short, when the tech seen the condition of my van he ended up using his own personal truck.

The typical "friday turck" ...
Back when I was like 20 my partner, same age, and I had so much lunch garbage in the van we used the pile in between the seats as an arm rest. Oh it was a lovely smell too.

I'm not saying anything. This is a picture of my desk. My only defense is that it is a Friday afternoon and I sold a **** load of jobs this week.

If you don't make a mess now & then, it mean you're not working very hard.
I wish my van were that clean!
