I just heard a poll that gave him over a 70% approval rating. I immediately rejected it, but now have second thoughts.
I have a BIL going on indefinite layoff at Orion. A good friend who transferred in from OK will be loosing his job when GM Pontiac shuts down. A wonderful family in our sub is just now loosing their house. Close friends of ours lost their business this winter, sold their 1M house for 350K and are living in an apartment out of state. All good hard working people, none of this has been their doing. And these are just a few cases that have touched me personally.
None of this is Obama's fault. People living through this type of trauma are scared to death and will reach for something different, cause the status quo has really sucked and their families and future are at risk.
I don't believe that the steps he is taking will work in the long run, but I do think that he is following the economic philosophies and principals that he believes in, and he see's them as the best way forward out of the hole we have dug.
I am not surprised by the support he gets, and I no longer think there is some media conspiracy. And I will be a much harsher critic of those that brought us here and now, rather then blame him for things he didn't cause.
And may he burn in hell if he ends up turning off the lights.
