No walkway, no switched light, no work platform, two gas flex lines tied together, vent pipe touching combustables, ductboard return falling apart, 120v wirenuts dangling off furnace w/ground duct taped!....and to top it off I have to be part contortionist to get over the ducts without stepping thru the ceiling holding the light wondering if I am about to be electrocuted by a live wire in a 140°F attic. Bout to get tired of this guys.

forgot to mention we are pulling 3 tons of air thru a 20x20 filter grille and the vent pipe is foil taped where it goes from 4 to 5".

Ditto.

Thanks for the reminder of why I NEVER want to go back to residential. This unit could also be in a dirt crawlspace as far away from the access door as possible with the controls on the other side of the furnace with spiders, fleas and who knows what else.

Steve,

I'm sending you a 12 pack...6 will not do! I think James would call in an air strike! Shew...and they lived to tell about it.

Send him a 5th. Dakers. The hard part is getting the customer to understand why it scares you and why it should scare them. More $$$ will solve the problem and lack of paying enough probably caused it in the first place.

You got that right! Hey Steve, don't your rates double when correcting LeRoy's messes? :D

This is why I left residential HVACR and now work on airplanes! I can't count how many units I had to work on like this because of the money hungry "Your Satisfaction Garanteed or Your Money Back" folks at Hoffman Estates. Did we get paid hazardous pay for this?....no! Were we able to at least charge the cust a higher rate?....no! When it came time for our annual evals, did we receive credit for correcting junk like this?....NO!

Best thing to do with junk like this is tell the homeowner what needs to be done and give them a rate at least twice the going rate and if they refuse...thank you sir or mam. No charge! Then gone on to your next call.

DE and MD is notorious for this type of S.... Work!
