It's another TRUE POS that I have the (dis)pleasure to work on, a GDM-49F.
It started when I did the PM on the store's HVAC equipment and took a look at the various reach-ins as part of the check-ups.
This one had gotten its drainpan/evaporator cover damaged and every time it did a defrost, the meltwater would run out of the bend and into the box. The iceberg there was tremendous!
Anyway, after many weeks of waiting for the owner to get the box emptied, I get to go and fix that thing finally.
I get to the unit and see that it really is empty this time, grab my gear and get to work. I see this first:

Okay, I'll run a defrost or several to get as much ice melted and drained as possible so I can replace the cover and pan. I get into the control box and find a another lovely surprise.

It is a lot worse than it looks, believe me. take a look at the defrost clock after I got it out into the light.

When I last visited this thing, before today, the only event was the continuing growth of the iceberg wrapped around the product in there. The box was keeping everything frozen, defrost was happening as shown by the increasing mass of the berg and other than having to wait for the owner, everything was copacetic.
I did put in a new clock and fix the wires attached to it. Then I pulled out the other harnesses to make a repair attempt. Seeing what I saw close-up I'm calling TRUE Thursday and having them send me some wiring harnesses and plugs so I can replace the crispy critters in there.

I don't know what happened yet and I'm kinda nervous about looking for it after I get the wiring fixed.
Has anyone had something like this happen to any of your TRUE pos's? I'd like to hear about it. Thanks!

Only have 3 new units that use same timer and 2 of the timers were NFG. Not cooked as well done as yours tho. I'm not impressed with them at all.
Good luck on getting the owner to jump a little faster next time.

Never saw True mount a timer like that with those kind of zip screws
