I know there's probably threads on this but looking for any new input as well.

We install mostly residential split systems and have frequent problems with mice eating wiring electronics in outdoor unit.
ANY "secrets" you can share?
We've tried using wire mesh over the openings but it's hard to do and hasn't been entirely effective.

They need a cat! :D

We run into that every now and again--haven't found a perfect way to avoid it. Also, the danged birds coming in through the exhaust pipes. They play hell on draft motors.

Try Poison or a cat i don't know man hungry critters I guess

Here's another condensor with a squirrel nest. Made himself right at home. This 2 ton Mr Slim has open access to the control side. Apparently they don't have critters in Japan.

Interesting. Maybe a fake owl close by? Never ran into this problem myself.
I know when I used to fly, we used to use a gel to keep the birds away. It was almost like glue. It looked like a tube of caulk. You might try something like that.

Snakes can be your friends. :D

Send them over here, there's not enough snakes in NH, especially in the Fall when the critters start building their condo's.

Not when you pull the service panel off and turn around to see one coiled up in side. :eek:

Been told that before and wanted to try it but can never tell the boy moths from the girl moths as hard as I look!

Yeah, point taken. But at least after you change your undies you don't have another crappy mess to clean up eh.

Yeah, we found a way to ID the boy moths, but this method has been discussed and research indicates it's only short term because eventually they loose their potency. These new england critters are a persistant bunch and they'd just keep checkin back for the "all clear".

The concern with a “De-con” type product is when the family or neighbors pet eats the dead mouse or in your case mice – not good on cats and small dogs.

Agreed, and also it can potentially stink up the place for awhile if it doesn't get eaten and dies in a tight spot.
