Hi to all,

Looking for some advice info...

I am having a system installed as follows:

Gibson Furnace - KG7TC-060-vb

Gibson AC External Unit - JS4BE - 018k

Aspen Coil - ca24b

Wondering what the resultant AC SEER / EER for these components might be and associated AHRI# if one is available. I have heard that the SEER might be increased with the Aspen coil and High Eff furnace above.

Any other comments on the units indentified would be appreciated.

Thanks

Move up to the Frigidaire brand ,same factory asseveral others, just a different label ,and better warranty.

Do some serious research on what ever brand you choose.

Or get a Tappan,Grandaire,Sylvania,Maytag,etc.,etc..

All brand names used under a license agreement, built by Nordyne, does Nordyne ring a bell ,as far as brand names go???

Looked at moving up to Frigidaire but wasn't really concerned with the warranty (likely only in this house for a year or two) and was under the impression that there was little difference in the Nordyne brands (other than some increased noise insulation and other minor upgrades).

The leading competitive installed estimates / offers were from Goodman (slight increase in cost for GHV950704 & SSX14024) and Keepright ("ICP brand?" more expensive than Gibson or Goodman (+/- 15%) for VS95 & SX2400). Had other offers but much more expensive for York, Carrier and Bryant units (almost twice the cost of the others installed). All were between 60K to 80K BTU and either 1.5 or 2 ton (smallish bungelow in the cold north east). In anycase I was more interested in finding a quality installer than fretting over the different brands but any criticsm is always welcome -- still haven't signed the final contract....

For the time being I'm just trying to fine tune the numbers on the Gibson units.

Thanks for the info,

Cheers

13.05 EER and 14.50 SEER. AHRI #3325260.

I do not see a combination rating for that furnace and coil/condenser matchup.

I do not see a combination rating for that furnace and coil/condenser matchup.

The actually performance is going to be higher but since Nordyne didn't choose to rate that unit/coil combo with the furnace, can't tell what it actually is. Last I heard, Nordyne hadn't decided whether Aspen coils will remain something they'll sell so few or no ratings with the MB6 or KG7 lines yet.

As far as the tax credit goes this combination of condenser and coil qualifies if
the eer and seer numbers as reported here are correct, if that is what you are wondering about..

This is incorrect -see Baldloonies correction, above.

Those numbers don't qualify, need 16/13
