Have you tried running them warmer?

What needs to be that cold? -35 degrees SST?

Then, sorry, I got nothing.

You could always run a heater wire around the fan baskets, but that still doesn't solve the root cause.

one of my customers has the same problem, i was told by a hussman tech that was up here working at the large grocery store that the case is bad..water gets under the sheet metal floor and when it freezes it buckles the floor up causing the drain water not to get to the drain..he told me to make the defrost time 90 minutes. since that time, weve had no problems with ice..

this case is a frozen food.
he told me that once he had to replace that sheet metal floor, came in and tipped the case on its back and did the job from under neath..

I had a similar problem with a RL. In this case I found the drain line P traps installed backwards. They are directional with the high side on the outlet side. Had to order all new traps from hussman.

just a shot but is the case staggered for defrost and if so is it sealed and barricaded from the next defrost on the line up. Plexiglas maybe, so the humidity from the defrosted doesn't become ice on the refrigerated...

Do you remember "rudolph the red nose reindeer" and the island that they had for the misfit toys??
Just think of Hussman as santa, and Target as the island.

With the cases being that new maybe they're not level. Got a set of cases that 1 of 3 8' sections has water left after a defrost and there is frosting problems of all kinds on restart. Have to shim up the case aprox. 3/4" inch.

we did that already we were very close to perfect i covered all corners before contacting hussmann. about this.. last week i talked to someone and they aint even sending a rep out they said oh yeah we got a kit to fix the problem so i take it they're aware of this problem we shall see they did recommend a 60min defrost lol i will have soupy icecream by 45mins

I had 2 RLT-4's on a loop with steppers running electric defrost, same sort of problem, coils iced up with clear drains but the ice started where there was piping running through the case and I guess when in defrost water dripped from coil it went to the bottom of tjhe case and froze a barrier in the drain pan where the piping was laying. It would build up to the coil on the back of the case, stopping the fans.

I placed some rubber bungs from copper tubing(seals) and that rost the piping over 1/4" over the pan and water flowed under the pan.

i'll assume these are glass door if thats the case only one defrost is needed at night when store is closed no more picking up humidity during the day when loading or customers opening doors and you could give it 2 hours of defrost but it should be terminating on temp "always" for producy integrity
you want to clear the ice and not bring the fan shrould above due point to collect ice
