I’m trying to identify a valve used in an installation of a Carrier Heat pump split system pool water heater. A HVAC contractor was able to determin that the valve was the source of the HVAC system’s leak but he and another local contractor were unable to identify the part or source a replacement. I’m hoping one of the experts here knows this type of system and can point me to a part of manufacture.

The system is a Carrier MPX model number 09WQ060010 SN: X500135. The valve seems to be controlled by pressure in the refrigerant loop (I don’t know if it is high or low side). I think it controls how much water bypasses the heat transfer block. This valve has no markings and none of the professionals in both pool and HVAC seem to know what it is called or what it is.

I would greatly appreciate help identifying the valve or any pointers to people who know of this type of device or this type of installation.

Thanks,
-Rob

If this is not a diy project, you need another set of contractors.

Try a good company in your area that does commercial work, they should be able to help you out. That is a common valve and it might not even be your problem. If the other two contractors needed know what that valve was or did, how did they troubleshoot it.

Ha! Yep. I was sure it wasn't a DIY project. :) It was starting to feel like maybe it wasn't even a professional project but I now have comfort from these replies. Thanks guys. The original HVAC contractor figured out the R-22 leak was in the valve because they isolated sections of the loop and did a high pressure test. The test failed on the valve and they also noticed oil etc leaking from around it.

Thanks again for the help. I'm calling around trying to find someone. How should I describe the system?

"Air Sourced split system for pool water heat"

Does that sound about right?

Thanks guys!

As others said. You need a good and qualified contractor.

Such as the company that installed the system.
