While I agree that the boy should be treated, there is absolutely no reason that he should be forced by the government to take a treatment that he doesn't want.
There are several issues to be examined here.
1. He is only 13, a minor.
2. He does not want to be treated,
A. Is he afraid of the discomfort of the chemo.
B. or does he want to die in peace.
3. He might not live any way.
4. Should the government get involved in this issue anyway?
If this were an adult, then he should be allowed to decide if he wants to die in peace.
In my church, we had two people that just went home and passed on peacefully, that is a choice.
If he is afraid of the effects of the chemo, that is a different matter.

If youre an adult and have a terminal illness, you should be able to determine your fate.
This is what Dr. Kavorkian was all about....but the medical lobby is strong and they want $$$$. And thats what its really all about isnt it?...the money that is.

If you are a minor, then WHO decides your fate? The state, apparently because the article stated that there are laws requiring minors to be treated.
My wife brought this to my attention last night. She disagrees with me and thinks that the state is right to force medical treatment onto this person.
I always thought that Kevorkian was a merciful man. Being forced to live past your time is one of the worst evils in modern times.

I read something about this story yesterday and wondered about the background. I think there's probably more to it than the media are reporting. Anyone got more info?

Read a couple more articles concerning this young boy. This is certainly one of those slippery slope issues. They profess their religion is against such treatments as this. The boy has a learning disability and cannot read. Does he understand?
Would this be a different issue if say it were a young minor girl who happened to be pregnant and if she carries the child will die? But, if the child is aborted the girl will have a 75% chance of total recovery? Where would/do such arguments end? Where is the 'line' and who determines it?

100% correct.
Its always about the money. Insurance companies , fda,Pharmaceutical companies.
Why do you think alternative health care isnt covered under insurance policies ? It works.
Here take a pill, ya feel better?
Yes but my wickerbill hurts now,
Well lookie here weve got another pill for ya.
Thats better but now im tired all the time.
Right this way, take this pill too
and on and on and on.
Is it the boy, or the mother that is objecting to the treatment?
I am a little confused by the original article.
