Hi all
We are looking at a job that the local Siemens branch has modeled and told the customer that they are going to save X amount of $.
we ran the building in Equest and of course we are totally different!
It seems that they can put in the Kwh for the building and back into th cooling portion then determine the strategies that are most beneficial.
Does anybody have anything similar that is available to the lowly independent.
I have tried both Trane's system analyzer and the Carrier HAP and neither seems to let me input the actual usage.
Hopefully i am missing something simple as usual
Thanks in advance
Kevin

I do not have anything to add about another program but one thing that may sell the job is to show the actual calculations and how you came about with them. I do not like when a performance contractor comes in trying to sell something but can NOT explain how the numbers were created! Also, they never ask our rates, since we are a large customer, we pay less per KWH/DTH, so our payback is longer due to the lower rates.

Performance contracting energy savings is an art rather than a science. However, their calculations should be based on actual data. If the contractor cannot rationalize their savings on solid fact, have the customer turn around and RUN as fast as they can away from the contract!!
I've been doing PC work for almost 20 years and it has come a long way from smoke and mirrors and shared savings. Honest PC people have to lay all the facts on the table so they don't get burnt either. A good Performance Contract will be a win/win situation for both parties.

Thanks. Mike

Thanks and I agree, but they are the big guys and I am a piss hole in the snow!
If I can get them to look at my data runs, I think they would agree that my stuff is pretty solid.
modeling is it art? science? Bs? I would guess equal parts of all
thanks
