You folks were having so much fun with my original post- I missed it while on the road-
Back Ground: Inherited system 3 years ago and have been doing proper maintenance and have tech who is 20+ years experienced and a good friend as we are both in the trades.- he says- replace compressor because the rest of the unit is in good shape.- Looked at copeland because it is bucks- however, not a perfect fit-

Going with other brand but not Train- installation less than a bottle of whiskey. ::: Renovation, maintaining, increasing expected life from cars to houses and women is my forte- It does not always have to be new- I hear it too much from random AC guys who visit my houses on occasion- products can last 50 years if done right... just look at my 30 year old volvo 940...the savings may not be as great for some as new but the work and maintenance is good for the sole- America is fixated on "NEW"= damn my garage door just broke...
Much appreciated:D:rolleyes::p
