The heat pump runs in second stage far too often. It does not seem to transfer to first stage until the amibient outdoor temp. rises to about 12 Deg. C (53 F.)

Will moving the switch point jumper from 45 to 35 alleviate this problem? BP set at 35 and LTCO at 25.

What does your contractor say about it being in second stage too much.
