I have never used this product but the controller price is very competitive and, if the specs are correct, it is a very capable controller.
Apparently it uses LON as it comms bus, can it be setup, programmed and commisioned with a lns plugin?
Or do I have to use a webs controller or other software suite?
Regards
Darren

No...It must be configured with a AX Wizard..and only will work with HW and Vykon branded JACES at that. Dont let the price fool you..you will burn all that away ten fold getting them to work on the first job or two while you cut your teeth with them.

Thanks; thats the info i was looking for.
This is only a part-time thing for me and I cant afford to waste time or money.
My HW contact is telling me it is cheaper to use a webs controller and inbuilt software to configure/program the spyder but I must be certified before I can use it.
Certification cost is expensive for 1 person doing it part-time.
I use TAC product at the moment but my buy price is not great but at least I know the product and I have software sorted.
Just started looking at the Barix Barionet and this looks to be a very impressive bit of kit but it will take me a bit to get my programming sorted. Also my local agent is telling me they cant supply it with a RTC onboard, which will make scheduling difficult.

What is the application?
There may be other choices/options.

Looking for a fully programmable control that requires no special licencing or expensive software. Primarily for HVAC aplications, Package Units, Chilled/Heating Water units etc.
I am in Australia and I am sure there are lots of options but finding something that suits, doesnt cost the earth, has good support and a variety of product range has not been easy so far.

Have you checked out Innotech?
www.innotech.com.au
They are based out of Brisbane and seem to have a decent little line. Last time I checked the configuration/programming software was a free download somewhere on their site. If you can find it download and give it a whirl.

I agree. I just finished my first one. It was a very simple static pressure pid loop, static sensor, set point, pid, modulating output. I had a heck of a time figuring out why it was not working and while it was easy to fix I still burnt a lot of my time doing it. Next one "should" be cake, knock on wood. I think I may like them next year. The sylk bus seams cool. Any input freddy.

The silk bus is pretty neat, two wires for power and comm. The ZIO wall modules are pretty nice if you have a need for a digital wall sensor, and you can set them up to balance a box from the wall module.
Thanks

They have a good controller in their maxim111 range with free software, what else do you want.

It is already well supported here and I do not want to compete with others with the same hardware.
The hardware I am now looking at requires no software to program, it either hosts the software itself or is generic software, has no software for a front end (web based). This is sort of the direction Johnson took with the nae, it appears honeywell have also gone this way with the webs and it looks like TAC new platform will also be the same. I am not a fan of supposed open system like LON or Bacnet; IMHO TCP/IP is open and is the way forward.
I have a controller at home I have been playing with in my spare time and another that was put online for me to play with over the net. Both look good just need the time to put it all together on a project.
