Short answer is no I doubt it, people have tried to get wireless rs-485 transmitters to work before and had no success.

My understanding on RS-485 the biggest issue with distance limitation was the wire type you use. We just got done running some RS-485 comm wire that was more like coax cable and the guy that knew the details about it said that was the 'good wire that you could run to the moon and back' when compared to most of the other types out there. I really don't deal much with the RS-485, mainly LON.

Check out Acromag. They have RS-485 repeaters that work with standard cables. The JCI stuff will run a total of 15000 ft with 2 repeaters. Straight RS-485 may go even farther. B&B and BlackBox have them also.

I am wondering if CSI puts a special protocol in their signal to make one buy their product. their repeater. this is why i ask if a regular repeater can be used.

My understanding is has something to do with timing and I don't know of anyone being successful with anything other than the CSI product.
We had a supplier who guaranteed us their product would work, even lent us 2 repeaters, but after plenty of hours messing around it was not successful.
It has been sometime since I used the product but thats what I remember.
