Wrong filter. Suction on HP, a no, no

installed about 6 months ago. Man, the black stuff (oil) that came out of the schraders! Everything that f/d had sopped up during the summer is now all back in the system. Evap leaking like a sieve...
And just to complete this "how-not-to-do-it" picture, no valve cap on f/d and no insulation on s/l. Easy, Robo, this is out of your AOR.

I would bet not. No one makes a gas side bi-flow

the sporlan one is rated for the reversing gas line, but it rating is limited, it is rated for the reversing liquid line, which that drier is not on, I know that drier is not where its supposed to be on a heat pump. whether its a bi-flow or not.

Suction line dryers are to clean up a system only. Must be romoved, not a perminant aplication. If must, install between compesser and accumulator.

I ran into one a few years ago where someone tried to use to single flows back to back to make a bi-flow!

All you really needed to do was add an arrow going the other way, use a good marker or have some labels made up. :D
My neighbor had a heatpump installed with a suction drier, it ran that way for 2 years. The people that installed it (I use to work for) actually argued with the man that it was ok but would remove it for a nominal fee :D ha ha

It was a great feeling to help my neighbor and piss off that company. I told my neighbor if they give him any trouble ask them about the permit they never got.

looks like someone got what they paid for a piss poor installation. some idiot with a set of torches, a machine and no idea of what the F### they are doing. those are the guys that give us all a bad rap! and for the supplier that sold it to them they should be held responsible as well

But it MUST be installed in the common suction line after the reversing valve. Problem is, many units don't have enough room to install them without re-piping the whole thing.
