I need to get this out, and this is the best place for me to do it.

I just found out that my dad has cancer. It is brain cancer and it isn't good.

He had part of the tumor removed. Was supposed to be starting Chemo and Radiation therapy next week, I believe.

Wait for the worst part.

Nobody can find him.

He dropped his cell-phone in the mail, returned a bunch of stuff that he had borrowed in the past from people and took off.

Good morning FCS and everyone.

Sorry to hear about your dad JP. I can understand him wanting to make things right and not be a burden to his family, but in reality it isn't that simple and all he really acomplished was to increase the burdon. I'm sure that wasn't his intent at all and I'm glad he's home now. I'll be praying for him and your family.

I am backup on call..... I volunteered... (yes the dirty V word) since I was out sick Mon Tues and Wed.... Dont want to overdo it with full blown on call since its suppose to be hot...

Installed my first 5T commercial 3 phase Carrier RTU yesterday. Worked on many before up to 20T but never installed one. Once it was on the curb the Boss left said have at it. Its easy... well.... took me about 6 hrs. Yes I know its not difficult. But being 3 phase and a lot of money I didnt want to ruin anything. Found the bad spot in the tstat wire no one had found. Asked about the pigtail from the disconnect and was told there was nothing wrong with it and it would be fine. So what happens when I apply power???
BANG
WTF?:eek::confused: I had used a romex connector where the wires from the disconnect ran over to the unit power connections were... one phase shorted right through the romex connector (the piece that slides and adds tension) and blew a hole in it. Skeered the "peeouttame"
Must have been a bad spot in the wire.... cause I cut it back remade the connection and it ran just fine!
Boss was a tad bit upset it took me so long... "it doesnt pay that much time" but like I told him when he left.... I HAVE NEVER INSTALLED ONE BEFORE! I feel more comfortable now i have done one. and I apologized for taking so long.

speaking of which.... I believe if my short memory is working today.... I believe it was a Carrier 50HJQ006-521 Heat Pump RTU. They (our company) had a honeywell pro5000 tstat hooked up to the old unit. It was set up for step 1 #5 (2h/1c heatpump).
Was told that was the way it needed to be... well I do believe that us incorrect. I believe it should be 2h/1c conventional. The reason I say this is because in the 50HJQ ... Y energizes compressor and also energizes O (r/v) for cooling and W1 energizes the compressor in heat mode. heatpump in the pro5000 has an O terminal where in conventional it is W1. If anyone is familiar with this.... would you please "inform" me?
Thanks for listening!

He has been rambling. Remember, his brain has been affected.

He doesn't want to be a burden. Doesn't want to be a vegetable.

While I can't say with any experience because I have never been there, I think that I understand, just a little, where he is coming from and what he is thinking.

Fun day. There was a wasps nest in the disconnect box I was working on. Got stung, so I sprayed them all with coil blaster. Wasps kept coming back to their nest, and I would spray them as they hovered by the knockout hole. If I missed and they chased me, I ran around like a moron.

Update on my dad.

My dad was planning to do what we all suspect that he was trying. He had a gun in his truck and was 400 miles from home near a town where we used to live.

Apparently, since the operation, he has had some brain swelling, which he was given medication to help with. He doesn't take it.

This swelling caused confusion and he got lost. While trying to figure out a gas pump, a truck driver helped him fill up his truck, sat and talked with him a while (nobody knows the details of the conversation) and got him back on the road towards home.

At this time, they have taken his truck and his guns away and he has agreed to take his medication as directed.

Hopefully with the medication he will think more clearly. My dad passed suddenly and we never had a chance to have more of the conversations that I would have liked. Even one day with him would have made a big difference. hope all goes well.

Since I took the on call status at 1230 yesterday... I ran 7 calls yesterday and put one off till this morning. Got home at 930 last night. Had one call today for a resturant (yeah I know.... BBBZZZtttttttt) that needed a 1hp motor for a vent hood. told him we dont do that. Kept trying to get a motor out of me.... so far so good.... the attic this am was hot enough for the rest of my day! The company that installed the equip did not install an emergency pan drain line.... but the fitting with a small piece of pipe was stubbed vertically. Well that join in the pan was leaking. The insulation on the supply was not taped to the ahu. I think thats where a lot of moisture was coming from. Plus I think the drain had a slight blockage to it. I did install a pan float though!

hello FCS. Been on vacation for a week!! Our family rents a couple of cottages every year where we can all get together. Nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grandnephews, brothers, sister, and mom. Had a great time.
My brothers and I did quite a bit of fishing. we had a great idea. Start a new reality show called bassackwards fishing:eek: I swear, between tangled lines, me in the kayak trying to get across the lake with the wind sock out (unknowingly), my brother gettting his lure caught in a tree, tripping, and pulling the freshly rain soaked leaves down upon himself, etc., there was more than a few laughs to be had:eek::eek Despite our poor fishing skills, we had a great time!
So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Our thoughts are with you!

It hard to say not think he would do anything, made a promise to him, not sure what to do.

Cancer can to strange thing to you the frist few months when you get the news. Major head games. Fears some of death but largely what it will do to your family, financialy and emotional you can help but to quetion should you just die.

I still think about if it spread (espicalley to the brain) what do I want to do.

fcs,

I completely understand the rationale behind what he did. Even down to driving 200 miles away to do it.

He wants to save his family from this terrible thing.

I told my wife the other night what my wishes were:

If there is even a shred of a chance that I can live and lead a normal life, I will fight like hell to live.

If there is no chance, let me go gracefully and peacefully.

I'm sorry if others disagree with me, but at an early age, I watched my grandfather and my great grandparents die slowly and painfully in hospitals.

I don't want to go that way, nor do I want to put my family through the prolonged pain of a slow illness. While the expense is a consideration, it really is secondary, to me.

After you or some you love has cancer (especially advance stage) you feel closeness with other whom also have /are going through it.

Unfortunately Cancer knows no bond it doesn’t care if your Rich or poor, your race, if you’re a good person of bad, Male female, With children, married or not etc… The group has way to many members the only good part I the number of those surviving is growing.
It can leave broke, years of saving gone, sometime only to still not make it.

How many of us here have been affected JP’s dad, Chick Husband, Heavy’s wife, Greg with the loss of his wife and the kids losing their mother , Bob (ice) Sam (age 9) Iron’s good friend just to name a few.

Thankfully there are people like those on this thread that make it a better. You will not be forgotten. You make it bearable.

But cancer CAN NOT take away our love or memories, it cannot make us forget the one who didn’t make it.
Always remember those who didn’t make it tell their story’s it will keep them alive so to speak.

Just some rambling, Thanks for listening

No, Bret. You do not step out of line with your comments in any way.

I guess that this is affecting me more than I thought. I'm a little cranky.

I have to say that my relationship with my family, and my dad especially, has been stormy over the years. Right now, even through this, they want nothing to do with me. That add a bit to my crankiness.

What I was trying to say is that all of the advances in medicine are great. People live longer and healthier now than ever before and I think that it's GREAT! We can help people where we couldn't before.

I also think that there can be a bad side to that, too, where people can be kept alive although they are in great pain and really don't have any hope for a normal life beyond their illness.

Let's not turn this into an ARP discussion.

Frank, lets see some more bewbie pictures. That is sure to cheer all of us up!!!!

speaking of yummy..... but of a different type.... I made a pork tenderloin for dinner tonight. Probably was about 3 - 3.5 lbs. Grilled it on my gas grill.... splattered it with honey barbeque sauce.... took about 2.25 hrs to cook. Damn it was tender and juicy.... had Au-gratin potatoes and Broccoli...... Plus my favorite--- Yeast rolls! My youngest son who eats almost Nothing the rest of us eats.... Loved it! Wants to make a sandwich to take to the beach tomorrow!  The girls loved it and both ate 2 big ole slices of it... and my wife..... LOVED it. No *****in at me for dinner tonight! (yeah Me!)
Heck... I even cleaned up the dishes (from cooking) and the kitchen....

Hi FCS, I know you don’t know me, but I just wanted to wish you the best and everyone else out there. You just don’t know who or when it will happen next.
Last week, my 3 year old grandson had a 5lb tumor the size of a medium grape fruit removed from his abdomen. They also removed some Lymph nodes that tested positive for cancer and now it’s a waiting game, meanwhile my brother-in-law has been battling cancer for almost 2 years and is now losing the battle.

John I'm sorry to hear about your grandson and brother in-law.

hope to see you around this thread.

let us know how thier doing and you too.

I love good BBQ. Sounds like you found a new family favorite. :D

Well, I gotta go in a few to do the work I put off yesterday.

well the only problem is my wifr got the porktenderloin on sale.... and it had to wait longer than when we first wanted it. Just because I wound up working late or got put on call. All I could hear was how the meat wqould go bad of we didnt eat it soon. It was well within date but she would not hear of it. So... it may be the type of thing we would eat more in the fall winter and spring.... before things get crazy. Srill need to BBQ some chicken breats and also have a nice London broil I want to devour!
Oh... I need to get her to get some tuna steaks when they go on sale,. Those cooked on the grill are fantatsic!

Sonic peach shakes taste like your eating a perfectly ripe peach. I like hole in the wall places too. My brother has a theory on shakes: he will never order a shake from a skinny person. He believes that unless they are heavy set, they probably don't know how to make a good shake.
