I just picked up a couple lenox pipe wrenches, 18 and 14 inch cast, and 18 and 14 aluminium. I know everyone swares by Rigid, but i must say they are some mighty fine wrenches lol. Anyone else use em? Next will be 24 inch cast and aluminum.

i know, they are sooo much lighter lol, but for some of the bigger stuff i do i use a cheater, and i dont like using the aluminum with a cheater pipe. I really like em, and i wanted sometin diff then rigid, i wanna be diff than everyone else.:rolleyes: Now i need the biggins lol, 24 inch.
I haven't used the Lenox. I have the aluminum Ridgids up to 24" on the truck. But my favorite is the Rigid 14" Rapidgrip. I use the big guys to break the joint, then finish it with the Rapidgrip.

They are no diff than the rigids IMO, the only prob is not a lot of places sell them, i got the aluminums from united refrigeration and the cast from grant supply in pleasantville, nj. I was only able to find up to the 18s, gotta get the others offline, think i might order another 18inch aluminum, i guess its the most used wrench all around.
And those rapidgrips are nice, maybe ill pick one up sooner or later lol.

Yeah the aluminum will take a cheater no problem.

Use a cheater and you will break it. Bout a month ago we were putting in a new steam boiler and one of the guys cheated a 24" sissy wrench. I warned him and he said "it'll handle it look, crack". Don't be that guy.

haven't broke an aluminum one yet, and my cheater bar is an old jack handle :)
3ft of leverage is an awesome equalizer :D
break them trane roto locks loose real fast :D
My 18" & 14" I got from my dad and he got it when he was in his 20.
Used a cheater on it many of times. Still a great wrench.

I know it will take it no problem, i just dont trust it. Id rather use the stronger one and not risk breakin a 100 dollar wrench lol.

Rigid has a lifetime warranty break it with a cheater and go get a new one. Seems pretty simple to me.

Technically I am not a refer tech either just what it says on my liscense I do chillers mostly but a curved adjustable definitely counts. How about getting denied warranty on a klein screwdriver cause there is hammer marks on the handle:eek:

Hahahaha, thats pretty good, i got one. It doesnt really sound smart on my part lol. When i first started i was workin with a guy and he told me to put a hole in the refer can so we can get rid of it, all i had wit me was a six in one, so i repetedly beat on the screwdriver till the shaft came out the other side of the handle, lmao. I was pissed, i just bought it the day before, and it was a klein.

FYI- the cheater part is excluded from warranty.
YMMV

Your cheater was probably worth 2x what the wrench was this summer!
I need to get an assortment of cheaters in my van one of these days. Nothing excessive, but a 2-3' piece of pipe would be nice.
I've got a 6" (steel), 12" (alum) 18" (alum) 24" (alum) and 36" (alum) in my van, oh, and one of them keychain one's too. That one actually is more useful than you'd think.
We've got a 4' steel one in the shop, no one but me seems to use it. Probably because I get them fun grunt jobs. At a previous place I had a 4' wrench with a 5' cheater on it bouncing off the end of the cheater and barely broke it loose.
I've only owned ridgid, but I've used a variety of other brands, and I must say, they're all the same in my opinion... unless you pay $10 for a 3' one of course.

I picked up a 3' aluminum Lenox a couple of years ago, and It's as good or better than the Rigid. I forget what I paid, but it was much less than the Rigid at the time.

Biggins? Rofl. 24" is standard, 36" is used a lot and 48" available in the shop.
Get a 45 and a right angle. They come in handy.

I have a 36 inch cast one that I use on some jobs
that I call "The Widowmaker".
It was my Dad's and it must be 50 years old at least
It seeks out the weak.
For some reason it doesn't get secured all of the time in the back of the van and it usually falls on some poor schlub who doesn't have steel toe shoes on.
Wait that was me
But one time was all it needed.
It has gotten 2 members of my family, a noisy neighbor and myself
That I know of anyway

lets see. I have a 6, 8,10,12,14,14,14,18,18,24,24,36,48 all ridgid cast. Than I have 14, 18,18,24,24 36 all ridgid allum. Plus a ridgid spud wrench. I guess Iam a big fan of ridgid. Most of the cast ones were my grand fathers. Most still have the original teeth and straight handles
