I notice on the boards a lot of talk of mV and mA for controls, etc. I have a UEI DL49 meter and its bare bones. I lost the manual to the meter and was wondering if the meter is even capable of taking such readings. Anyone own one that can confirm this? Thanks:)

the 16 will not do mA
If you dont use mA often enough to spend 200+ on a new meter, you might want to go to radio shack or sears and look for a cheap meter just for checking mA.

another question, is there AC microamps/milliamps and millivolts? for instance, doing a milliamp test on an oil burner transformer. You obviously couldnt perform that test with say a fieldpeice hs36 because its microamps scale is DC. Im basically looking for a do it all meter, thats handy and fits in the tool bag well. But it seems in order to do that you need to carry around 2, sometimes 3 meters! can anyone help me in my decision? Im kind of leaning towards fieldpiece because its geared more towards our industry and the accessory heads seem nice. but the flukes look like a million bucks but dont have all the nice options. price isnt really a concern, im just looking for a meter that does it all.
