I have a customer that has a "old" Carrier VVT
system with bypass stats.
They use dial-up to get to the dos screen.
Problem is when they get to the dos screen
and try to access each zone, it trys to look for it
but then it comes back and states no communication.
Went to the site and found the board that has no info on it
but a sticker that says Parker electronics 811C270012 REV 1.4
The chip has a 1986 date.
There are 3 LEDs on the board:
1- for power
2- for communication?
3- for communication?

1- has light
2- no light
3- no light

Anyone have documents on this?
Anyone know if I can get this board or get it repaired?

Thanks in advance!!!

Thats a gen1 vvt and there are no parts available for it. You will probly have to upgrade to a 3V system. You might be able to find a used one on the net.

What protocol is gen1?
Is it CCN?

I was wondering if I can put a new head-end in
using existing field controllers.

I believe so its been years since I have had to work on one. Sorry Im not much more help but VVT is not that popular in my area.

It sounds like GenII, probably pre-enhanced as it still says Parker. Do you have white cover with 4 buttons around the lcd display and rotary pots under the cover? GenI had beige/tan cover, 2 buttons and led display.

Is the DOS software PC Command Center? If it is, the board is probably an ISOSAT or TeleSAM, can’t recall the exact name or part number. I tried to locate some info on hvacpartners.com but could only find literature on the software. You may be able to get some info from you local Carrier office to help troubleshoot.

If it is GenII, they don’t make it anymore. As screws stated, only option is finding used parts on the net. Can also try the Junkyard here. The PCCC setup was not very popular and even harder to find used than the stats/dampers.

Dear cmakowk,
What you have is an isosat-02. It is used to communicate with the VVT network (RS-485) either through a modem or through an RS-232 computer port. The LEDs you see indicate power status and communication status. This part is Generation-II and is discontinued by Carrier. In short is is a simple RS-232 to RS-485 repeater. This board has hardware settings for its address and communication speed on the carrier bus and on the RS-232. This address should not conflict with any device on the network (thermostat, bypass, or monitor.

The software has a menu for configurating the communication interface (RS-232). Communication failure will happen if the computer and the board do not have the same baud rate setting.

I have the original Isosat-02 docs and can help you with getting this started if you need. I currently use one in one or our buildings to acquire gen-II data and communicate back and forth with a custom made computer program.... This being said I which I could get my hands on anything relating to gen-II zone controllers!

There is a good chance the board is ok, but if not spare exists.

bpr,
Alan

I have two Zone controllers, one bypass controller, two temp stats. Took them out of a job that had the old ACS program. They might be locked, I can not remember if I removed the lock with the program before I replaced them with Gen 3. My E-mail address is in my profile.
