Every set of gauges I own have bad gaskets
Seems the rubber and new refrigerants don't mix either
and other posts claim teflon gaskets are not the answer either
Newer check valve type low loss whatever you call them
I don't care for for many reasons
Anything new out there
I found a link for a hose end gasket removal tool but it won't work
12134GI APPLIED TOOL SPECIALTY HOSE GASKET INSTALLATION TOOL
Anybody familiar with this tool and where to buy it? Manufacturer?
Anyone making a 1/4" hose end gasket out of the green oring material?
Is that Viton? The automotive industry changed to it but the
refrig hose people just keep selling us the same old black rubber

i just use a pick to pull out those gaskets....

of course, i also try not to crank down on my hoses when attaching them to a system to prevent from having to change them all the time :)

I used to go through a set every couple months. I finally got tired of it and asked the same type of question. The internet didn't exist yet so I looked into it myself. What I found was that I was twisting the hose end after tightening the connection, trying to get a better bite on it. But what I was doing was shredding the rubber gasket. So I thought I'd try doing things differently. I started keeping the gaskets lubed with oil, and avoided twisting of the connection after it was already snugged up. I still have the same gaskets in the set of hoses that came with my YJ digicools. I pulled a 200 micron vacuum Fri with the same hoses and manifold. I may be hallucinating, but I think this strategy works.

I had a habit of cranking down on mine and had to change them and It was a pain! I tried picking them out and it took forever.

Then I realized that you could twist and pull the core depressor out of the middle and then pop the gasket out. Put the new gasket in then replace the depressor then bam your done. So much easier :D
