what do you guys feel about this micron guage?i already have the hg1 data logger and other heads and will buy this if it is adequate for what you guys are talking about here,
AVG2 Digital Vacuum Gauge
Displays pressure in microns in steps of 1 micron. Has pump down indication showing progress from atmospheric pressure.
Range: 50 to 2000 microns of mercury.
Resolution: 1 micron of mercury.
Pump down indication: when pumping down from atmospheric pressure to 2000 microns, output of head goes from over 3VDC to 2VDC.
Straight-in access to sensor for easy cleaning.
Fitting: 1/4" flared brass fitting (male)
Accuracy (@~75ºF): ±10%, 0-1000 microns of mercury
Auto-off can be disabled for data logging.
"T" for inline vacuum testing.
any good or bad opinions on this head?
Please no fluke vs fieldpiece vs digicool vs YJ etc just opinions on this head from personal experience or second hand knowledge,
TIA

I personally like mine. I've had it for 3 years or so and haven't had a bit of trouble out it. I've compared it vs several others for accuracysake and found no real difference.

chaos ,thanks do you use it on top of a HG1 data logger or another meter ?
which mode do you put it in to read microns?

co-worker of mine has one. he really likes his. he moved up and out of the field and let some installers use it. they have beat the crap out of it, and it's still ticking. couple weekends ago we checked his against mine and they're pretty darn close to each other :)
you can use that "head" attachment on any of the fieldpiece meters, or any meter that can read DC voltage :)
the HS36 meter compliments it well, or you can use a SC76 meter and plug into it with the correct leads :)

looking through thier websitem, it appears that you will need the stand alone, or a meter that can read the DC voltage from the accessory head... :o

if you put your meter on 200 vdc you can actually watch it come down from 5000 to 2000 microns it will actually show up as 5.0 - 2.0. once it gets down to 2.0 you can turn the adjustment to 2000m vdc and you can watch it come down from1999 to 50 in increments of 1.

what bs that is this hvacguide/hg1 seems like a hyped up tool,it doesnt do much and the hg2 upgrade that was suppose to come 14 months ago hasnt even been talked about in while,,what they need is more software that can upgrade this metter to accept all heads in the FP line..
i guess ill look for a decent stand alone..any real bad ones out there i should stand clear of?

I have one and I don't really care for it. There always seems to be an issue, weather the meter is acting up or the head or the head and the meter are not making a good connection. Its just a pain in the a$$ to me. Im actually looking to get away from all the fieldpiece attachments.

im going to take a shot with the FP stand alone model SVg2 ,its costeffective and may work ok.Ive always just pulled a vacuum for about 30mins or so maybe more or less depending onthe situation then leave it stand and look for rise after a time, alwaya a new filter drier.nitrogen for leak checks if needed
im going to buy this to see if what i ahve been doing has been adequate or better ,meaning what micros have i been pulling down to all these years without the guage.

ACGUY,
Sorry it took me so long to respond. I use mine two ways, on top of my EHDL1 accessory handle and on a SC77 meter. If I've got the meter tied up I'll use it on the accessory handle. The EHDL1 accessory handle is cheap @ around $28.00 compared to having to have two meters. I actually own two of the EHDL1 handles so that I can be doing multiple tasks at the same time.

If you got this meter how about an update on it's performance.

I decided to go with the the supco vg64 stand alone as it was available locally so if i ever had any issues with it i can return it more easily.I have been using it all summer and it seems to work pretty well..

The HG1 firmware with CheckMe has been available for about 5 months on our website. The HG2 is now available in stores. As Fieldpiece comes out with new tests that utilize our heads, the heads will work. The HVAC Guide is an evolving product so stay tuned for more to come :)

I have the fieldpiece microgauge that plugs into the meter and Im not sure if its my meter thats screwed up or the gauge. The other day I was pulin ga vacuum and id check ti and it would be down to 900 or so.. no prob keep pulling the vac, check it again a little while later and when i turn it on its reading 1200... then i move it around and its goes down to the 400s then jumps to 1200s and so on. Would that be my meter screwed up or the add on microgauge?
