I would highly recommend taking a class at a community college. Even audit the class if you don't need or want the credit. The kids will really keep you on your toes.

Just a note from me. If you're interested in learning Java, as versus JavaScript, eparizher had a good recommendation with http://www.javapassion.com/j2ee/
However, yah might might want to start with the basics. The above course is about advanced subjects, many of which aren't gonna be that useful to programming the JACE boxes.
Same guy has a beginner's course. In case you didn't notice the link:

FWIW, if yah haven't figured it out yet, yah don't have to actually enroll in the course to get the downloads, text, explanations and do the exercises. Enrollment is only needed to submit homework, get graded, and get one of the certificates.
