View Full Version : Honeywell tech support any good

Hi, A couple years ago we changed from Honeywell to Vykon. I was only doing controls part time then, the reason given was tech support was a lot better. To make a long story short the people doing the deciding are gone and it has come up that going back to Honeywell Webs might be a good move (read the Honeywell rep paid a visit). Management has asked for input since they don't know a Jace from a IO module, now I like Honeywell for the most part but do remember hearing some strong complaints about tech support and it did take them 3days to get back to me the only time I called right about when we changed. Have the improved in the last 3 years.

I have a request in that's 4 days old now.
Last request I made went completely unanswered.

I like our tech support.... very infrequently do you need it.

They used to screen Tech Support applicants for a pulse.......Apparently
they don't require one any more.

My support from my supplyer Ener-Tech and my Honeywell rep have been great. The Honeywell Buildings Forum is a great resource but I have heard the Honeywell TAC can be slow to hear from.

I have a great Honeywell rep who can answer most any of my tech questions when it comes to Honeywell webs and Spyders. I never call TAC for a Webs job. However I have had to make many a cal on SymmetrE systems and sometimes Care. Im not sure what TAC's deal is but they are way too slow to respond. As a matter of fact I have cases that I have never ever got a response back on.
I sure miss being able to call Tridium direct. I would stick with the Vykon channel.

Support direct from Tridium is absolutely superior to support through Honeywell. The Honeywell rep will be happy if you buy their controllers and components even if you stick with Vykon.

Hi, Well I guess nothing has changed, to bad as Honeywell has some good products, guess they figure support is an expense rather than an asset like so many other manufactors:confused:

Tech Support? Honeywell? They have tech support?
When we had a problem last time on some Excel 10's I posted it up here and got a response over night. We tried the suggested fix and worked.

Back in the day, you were wasting your time calling TAC. But get to know your Honeywell Rep. Richard has bailed me out several times. I never have to wait over 3 hours for an answer. The last time I waited 3 hours, he was on a plane. Nothing but priase for this guy.

ACS or ACI? i am ACS , small potatoes.
my distributor is Edward Smyers in pittsburgh. i deal with Dave Smyers.
if i need support he will make the call to TAC and get someone on the line
pronto. they have always been very supportive and have given me personel email addresses and phone numbers to help with communication to solve problems. maybe i'm just lucky to have a good distributor.
with that having been said, i still feel the best support system is with this forum or rons site. you guys rock:D

I used to call my Vykon tech support, and of course I'd get the ol "Let us look into it" line.........But there at the end, they'd always throw in there, "If you get it figured out, call us back and let us know how you did it". Those encounters were pretty typical with the folks I dealt with.
