I have been working on a site that uses Computrols controls. While I am not sure how good it is, I know I am fighting this commissioning software. I was told it was written by someone else to work with the Computrols software.

Regardless, every time I try to enter a command (like for actual CFM or to engage the heat strips), it's a crapshoot. Sometimes it will work, and other times I get "*** COMMAND FAILED ***" but sometimes it will work anyway.

The control guy for this job says it is because I am using a USB to Serial adapter. (This control uses a custom cable to go from a RS-232 port to interface with a standard Invensys/TAC Display stat.) I have tried this on another computer with a native RS-232 port, but I still get Command Failed.

Is there a different software to do VAV/FTB commissioning? The control guy says this is the only one.

If this was Trane, I wouldn't be having these problems.

Is this such an outdated or crappy system that no one uses it or has heard of it?

Our company used be a dealer before they had a formal network of dealers. It is a good product and the hardware is solid.

My only hands on experience was with the old DOS system. Do you know what type of software it is, CBAS?

I am actually starting a large project Monday as an electrical sub for a Computrols dealer to do pipe and wire.

I know a good contact their that can help you. I will email him a link to this thread.
