This is a job we did not long ago.
Was 4 trane 2teh3f ahus
with 2tta condensors
unit 2a and 2b are twined
all have ducted return
I think my guys did a good job on this but they killed me with the hours
They still need to find that balance
between speed and a good job
When you have to bid these jobs against low balling creeps
you must pick up the pace a bit
but still the job looks good
and I made sure to tell them how much I liked it
everybody needs to be stroked once in a while
except service managers or owners
who never get stroked
only catch all the crap

the condensers look a little close to the wall but you made up for that with the service panel sticking out

looks good

unit 2a and 2b are twined

What is "twined" - is that the strapping I see on the cond units? What's up with that?:D:p

Twined is where 2 air handlers tie together after the turning vanes
(so no air feeds back)
and also have a common return and t-stat
ahu1 is stage 1
ahu2 is stage 2
the strapping is common down there
the inspectors require the strapping in hurricane alley
we have to strap down package units as well, even tho we put screws into the curbs 8 inches on center.
Yes they are a little close to the wall but that was what we had to work with.

I was being a smart a$$.....just because I'm good at it. It is spelled "twinned":D

only if they are siamese :D
do you have to strap stuff in Alabama?
I know y'all get some good gusts of wind there as well

Maybe in LA (Lower Alabama), not where I'm at. The only thing we strap down are our trailers.......sometimes!

This is a job we did in Weston.
Look at how they made us strap them down
talk about excessive

Its either massive overkill
or the land crabs there are very resourceful.
For something like this it makes no sense to argue with the inspectors about it.
Thats what they want
thats what they are gonna get

OK that's overkill. The roof will go with the Units still attached thats for sure

Job looks good.

Code in Fl. says condensing units must be anchored to slab....Good clean work.Good to see metal in Fl!

We generally dont do ductboard
most all of our work is metal
keeps the tin knockers busy:p

I have a great aunt that lives in your neck of the woods
guess I should get over to see her soon
and use that as an excuse to stay a few days in Daytona
always love hitting the east coast of the state

I guess the excess anchoring of these units are because Florida is prone to so many hurricanes? Must also be a pain to service.

Nice looking job! Looks like someone was thinking about service down the road. Most people would have jammed the service panel against the wall! i have used unistrut and all thread rod to anchor the condensers,it dosent look as neat as the straps but it is easy to get out of the way for service. Good Job!!

The job looks great. One thing I noticed is the filter driers. Do these units need them? Trane usually factory installs a copper-spun filter drier within the unit, so probably don't need them. I'm not sure if these units are any different.

Nice iron! But question... what ya got against see through cleanable traps? Like the EZ brand... Or just the see through with els and a cap? make cleaning a ton easier!

iron

Cleaning is considered a maintenance item and not covered under our warranty.
Also we are at the will of the mechanical inspectors who will only pass certain things.
Like down in Miami - Dade
they make us put float switches inside the pan on package units.
Can you believe that
inside the pan of package units on the roof
we have to find the smallest ones we can and still have to bend some fins back
to get them in

LOL.... dont worry... we have inspectors who think they know it all too!
like a secondary trap incase the primary clogs.... but of course... it wont fill with water unless the pri blocks up.... till then you suck air into the unit! (from a hot attic!)
