I think they had an electronic air cleaner. Salesman said it only needed to be cleaned every 6 months.
I HATE THOSE DARN things. A .59 filter from walmart does a better job.

2 yr. old house. Top of the line Trane split systems.....Five 5 ton units. House was a million dollar mansion owned by a local allergy doctor. Best Honeywell EAC's installed that money could buy.

Well my job was to pull PM for this guy. So off I go to pull all the eac cells & wash them. Well when I pulled the cells out the units were so full of fine dust that I could right my name inside them....geeez! Turns out the installers forgot to install a little plastic clip that prevents the cells from being put in bassackwards. All the filters were installed so the power pack was not making contact with the guts....therefore no filtering was happening.

So now I am in a bind. The company I worked for installed the systems. Should I tell the owners the truth? If I did there is a good chance a big time lawsuit would follow. HMM what to do.......YEP I TOLD THEM! Surprisingly they didn't seem too concerned....whew!!

Why do homeowners insist on having the same people PM the equipment that installed it? Do they like inbreeding?

That coil could double as a fire damper.

Looks like one I replaced on a church rooftop that hadn't been checked or serviced for 7+ years. Seems the installer never told them there was a filter up there. Thank goodness for them a commercial Trane can take a beating.Seemed to cycle a lot less with a thorough cleaning and a new filter installed in the return duct instead of the rooftop.HMMMM
