hi, I just got into the hvac field, and I have a case were a 5 ton piston compressor is letting out a screaching sound and overheating after running 5 minutes, then shutting off on internal overload. I was getting 120 psig on the low side, 150 on the high side:confused: the unit runs on r-22. due to it being late I told the people I would return in the am, giving the compressor a chance to cool off, the compressor was just replaced a few months ago they said..... I suspect the run capacitor is the colperit since it appeared to be a bit swollen but I dont know, would a capacitor be the reason for a compressor to sound like that any help appreciated:confused:

Or perhaps the compressor has caused the capacitor to swell like that.
