i was listening to Dr. Drew (Pinsky) on the radio when he said a couple of shocking things.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drew_Pinsky

"Many of my patients are dying"

"Ever since Heath Ledger died there has been a pandemic of people dying from pharmaceutical drugs"

"...with these forms of drugs, there are no symptoms of overdose, you go to sleep and you don't wake up"

according to Wikipedia, Heath Ledger died of these kinds

"Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine."

most reports call this an "abuse" of drugs, which always sounds a lot better than, 'He took what we told him to take and he died'

this frankenstein society is out of control.

by the AMA's own reports, 33% of seniors are taking drugs they don't need, and 40% of the women in America are on an anti-depressants.

according to another radio doctor Dr Dean Edell
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dean_Edell
"think about it, it's next to impossible to test the effects of drugs in humans"
"the temptation is always there to pay for your pool"

when will Americans wake up and stop digesting experimental drugs handed to them by people wearing white coats?

what does it mean to be a doctor?

they sit in school for 4 or 12 years, learn the latin name for all the body parts, then get a job where you push the latest experimental drugs on the public, supplied by the pharmaceuticals (the highest profit business in America).
...and if you're luckey you'll get one who reads a medical journal every now and then.

...and the public listens to these people like they came off the mountain with a couple of tablets written by God.

I take care of several Hospitals/Medical Clinics in the area and it amazes me how the drug companies "Market" their products.
I do not go to these facilities every week, but it seems like when I am there the drug rep's are there also. Coincidence? Probably not, but boy they sure know how to put on a feast. The amount of food and quality of food they bring in for the staff is amazing.
Plus all the other "freebies" that they give the staff, it's no wonder the Dr's feel obligated to "push" some of the product.
There are a lot of good drugs out there, but I agree they are pretty quick to write out an Rx.

There is at least one positive side.

On more than one occasion, my doctor has "filled" a prescription for me by using free samples given to her by reps. Saves my (and subsequently everyone's) insurance company several hundred dollars a pop.

Also saves me a 30-60 minute wait at the drug store. Sweet.

well I think part of the problem is US, the patient.

A little common sense can go a long way:confused:

heath died because he was just plain stupid. If you don't know or understand what your taking and why, then don't take the drug.......idiot

I would bet, Doctors and Pharmacists kill more people in this country than ALL OTHER CAUSES combined, including car accidents and heart disease. But Doctors and hospitals conceal these statistics.
