Your local Johnstone Supply can get you the CPS solenoid valve magnet.
Part # B15-390

Danfoss makes one too. Part number 018Fmagnet.
They do work. They can also work on reversing valves.

Interesting idea. Never heard or or thought of this before.
Will one magnet work for multiple manufacturer's valves?
If I get the emerson magnet, do I have to get one from sporlan, too?

That CPS one works on the tiny danfoss too
Make sure the power is off while the coil is off of the valve stem.
Burnt a coil or two many moons ago and it is always on my mind.

or if you need to energize the system and want to switch the valve with your fancy magnet, you can put a screw driver or nut driver in the selnoid to keep it from killing itself :)

Copper pipe works
and a 1/2" O.D. piece can adapt the stem of a Danfoss to work with a larger diff. mnf. coil
in a pinch of course

If the magnet is larger than the stem it still works (at least as far as I know). However, there are some on the market not large enough to fit on a MKC 2 stem (CPS and Danfoss are the ones I know that fit on all).

Our company uses magnets salvaged from the Magnetron of microwave ovens. they fit all valves and sorits. We use a multi-tip screwdriver inserted into the solenoid's coil to keep it from burning up.

This is some handy info. It should be moved to the "tips and tricks" section.
