View Full Version : Purging hose
Happy new year everyone, i recently purchased a purging hose but is definitely too short. The hose itself is about 2 feet long.
Rather than making an extension for it i was thinking to make the whole thing. What do you guys use or do you have pictures of yours for ideas?
I would think that as long as inspectors sees that you are using one it wouldn't have to be a "store bought one"

What is a "purging" hose? How is it used?

it looks something like this but mine is a shorter one. It should be used when installing a gas line after the pressure test.
the nozzle part should be vented outdoors to purge the air and fill the pipes with NG. This saves alot of time if you are trying to purge the gas line (from air) through the pilot valve.
(My pressure tests would all be around 15 psig and mostly 1/2" or 3/4" steel pipe as i only do residential heating and appliances for now)

Call me lazy, but I think I'd probably just use one of my old manifold hoses (or 2), get a fitting to go from what ever to the hose, and best if you have a ball valve hose to shut it off and let it flow.
Putting a air gun on the end like that...well that'd be a bad idea... before long you know I'd be breaking out the lighter and probably blow myself up.
