I'm concerned about what seems like frequent cycling of my five year old Carrier 38YXA heatpump with Thermidistat. Have been noticing run-whoosh-30 second pause-restart type cycling.
Today I was outside and observed it in detail as follows--unit running including fan, stops at end of cycle with whoosh noise....approx. 30 second pause with nothing happening, then restarts compressor but no fan and I feel heat coming from coil (obviously in defrost)....runs like that for about a minute. Then stops, then restarts with fan and compressor about a minute later.
Is this a normal defrost cycle?
Anything to be concerned about?
