Has anyone heard of any replacement HFC refrigerants, not HCFC refrigerants (R401a, R-401b, R409a, or R414b)for R-12, other than R134a being worked on? I'm just curious because of the phase out of HCFC refrigerants in the next decade. I'm looking at what is best for my customers in the long run, if they have a R-12 compressor failure, replace compressor or system change out. I'm still replacing compressor and installing HCFC replacement refrigerant at this time. I will not use R-134a, because of the loss of capacity. I'm more curious on what others are doing at this time and their thoughts of the future.

Thanks. I will check out that thread now.
We have had more than a few contractors rave about R406a and how it has not given them any problems.

R-406a is still a HCFC refrigerant. Over the next ten years, prices will rise and quantities will dwindle in time. Thanks though for the info.

The company I work for currently has a policy of replacing R409a for R12 when a system is low. If there is a need to change the condensing unit then we make the switch to R404a. Our VP says they have not any issues when they have done this.

414b is a good replacment for r12, also you can charge r134 system with r414b.

Try MP39 i use it for all R-12 System.
By the way who has R-12 that is like gold.
Put it in an envelope and send it to Cash for Gold Companies.
