I am not in the profession so please excuse me if I don't explain all of this properly. I will try to be brief so heres the skinny. I live in an old 2 story farm house in the North and I recently replaced my old Ruud furnace with a new one. My house is 2000 sq ft and my old furnace was oversized for my house. I had several pros tell me this as the old unit was a 175,000 Btu beast. So on there recomendations I went with a new high effic 90.000 btu 2 stage unit. The problem is this. My house sems cold. The second floor is probably 5 to 10 degrees colder than the down stairs and the furnace never seems to corespond to the furnace. By that I mean if the thermostat is set to 70 the furnace usually shuts down when the temparature on the thermostat hits about 66. It stays off for a few minutes then cycles back on but never hits the desired temperature. Besides this the blower on the new furnace just doesent seem to move the air around like the old one did. I talked to the contractor about this and he said this unit is going to operate differently than my old one. Ive got to beleve they know what there talking about but just don't understand why the new furnace isn't keeping the house more comfortable. Are there adjustments that can be made with the furnace that would tweak the operation to my needs. Any thoughts and feed back would be greatly appreciated.
