Has anyone ever heard of this happening to people you know?
Teenagers make a fake license plate with YOUR license numbers/letters on it, and speed through a known speed camera zone.
You are mailed a ticket in the mail.
They remove the fake license plate and you are hosed.
Here is a link to a report on it. (http://www.thesentinel.com/302730670790449.php)
How quick would the legality of not being able to face your accuser be called into question as a result of this "speed camera" situation?
I find this hard to believe.. Reason being, they have these speed cameras / stop light running / stop sign running cameras here.
They take a pic of the driver, as well as the license plate, and that is what gets mailed to you, the license number with a pic of the vehicle as well as who was driving the vehicle.
How do I know...I got a pic of myself running a stop light mailed to me  with a $150.00 ticket...........

And was it you? ;) We have those around in Missouri and Illinois as well. I was pulled a little too far into the intersection once and damn thing flashed and flashed again when I backed up. Middle of night, no other cars around! I'm guessing they figured out what was going on with the sequential pics cause I never got anything in the mail. :D

In Maryland the cameras don't take a picture of the driver, just the car and rear plate.
I suspect that will get changed in the near future.
Even if the camera takes a picture of the driver, a good wig and make up can get "someone" in trouble:rolleyes:
These cameras are just a bad idea and a revenue generator for the government:mad:

Same in Georgia. Got one ticket at night in the rain. Clocked my speed also. Blew my mind.

there are a multitude of problems with "camera enforcement". One of them is some or most of the cameras in a given area ARE RENTED.
The other problem is if the city buys the cameras they can run upwards of $90,000 so the city MUST MAKE MONEY OFF THE CAMERA, even if it's just to pay for the damn thing.
The city will also "screw" with the light timer. the city will tend to shorten the Yellow light timer so the red light trips faster, there by not give cars in the intersection time to get out before the camera trips..........increased revenue
The city says this is for safety reasons, oh really? if it were about safety the "fix" would be very simple. When a light changes to Red, hold the red light in all directions for 5 seconds. That clears the intersection and no one will gets hurt.
Red light cameras also do not give you an opportunity to confront your accuser. Although the Supreme Court (of some state) said the red light cameras are constitutional  go figure,

Bingo!
There are plenty of localities where no face pictures are taken. This would highlight the confronting the accuser argument, and could lead to the picture of a driver being necessary to the legality of a ticket. Which could lead to facial recognition.
There is a profound difference between being responsible for who is driving your car, and having a fraud or prank or revenge foisted upon one by strangers.

going off topic here......but I drove by a tennessee state trooper today going over 90 mph.... I know it had to look like the other autos were sitting still....... Looked this guy right in the eyes so I know he saw me....I mean he was right on the side of the road in his little hiding spot.
Cant fiqure for the life of me why he didnt come and get me... I slowed down a bit just in case one of buddies was up ahead pulling the people the first cop shot with the speed gun.... but after a few miles I just hammered down again.

If I read this correctly you were doing 90+ mph and looked at the trooper instead of watching the road? YIKES!!
