Hello! New to the forum and I am need of help!
I am looking for a 3 1/2" black union. No one manufactures the part any longer. A manufacturer of black fittings suggested the makeshift repair of using bushings to make a 4" black union work - but that would make a loud hammer effect.
Any suggestions?

Willing to use stainless steel? Some guy on eBay has three of them at a BuyItNow price of $10.00. Take a look at http://cgi.ebay.com/3-1-2-ss-Female-3-pieces-unions_W0QQitemZ140210268793QQihZ004QQcategoryZ264 19QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp 1638Q2em118Q2el1247

I asked the service tech and he said It definitely is 3 1/2".
Anyone know where I might get used parts?

I don't.
But, it wouldn't be the first time a tech got a size wrong.
I'd remeasure it.
Since the tech didn't tell you weather he was measuring th OD or ID.

but why don't you just have a welder come in and weld in a butt joint nipple and be done with it.

I haven't seen 3-1/2" in 25 years. They used to be used in large industrial oil tank piping. Maybe someone who does oil refinery work could help you. Not sure where to look.
Good luck!
We used a 4 in union with bushings , We added a drip to prevent hammer

HotWaterWorld had written: "I know a company in Seattle that probably has one."
Wow! :D That is great!!! :D I would be very interested in getting the name and address of that company.

ph # 206-783-6626. This company has been in business for close to a 100 yrs I think and I don't think they have ever thrown anything away. They buy out defunct supply houses, companies etc and throw in their wharehouses here in Seattle. I am alway's amazed at when I ask them for the obscure pipe, valve or fittings that they have it somewhere in the bowels of their bldgs. Good luck, Tim
