Illinois governor taken into custody
Federal prosecutors say Blagojevich, Harris and others conspired to gain financial benefits in appointing President-elect Barack Obama's Senate replacement, according to the statement.
Golly, imagine another Illinois Governor being corrupt. Those Illinois politicians are such a 'change' from other politicians.

Someone must have embarrassed the FBI into actually enforcing (some) law.

Yea I read that article, seems like some of the stuff they tried to hang on Governor Palin is coming back to haunt others. i'm sure if they looked hard enough , they could arrest all politicians in office.

Why does a great state like Illinois have so much trouble with crooked governors and mayors
(from both parties)? If you're old enough you can remember how Mayor Daley ran Chicago
like his own private kingdom.

CHICAGO - A defiant Gov. Rod Blagojevich says anyone who wants to tape his conversations should feel free to do it openly because doing it "sneakily" smells like Watergate, the scandal that brought down former President Richard Nixon.
"I don't care whether you tape me privately or publicly. I can tell you that whatever I say is always lawful," Blagojevich said Monday after an unrelated press conference outside a shuttered Chicago manufacturing plant.

The next day he was arrested by the Feds.

Exactly. Are we to infer from the OP that the President-Elect is culpable for the governor's attempt to sell his senate seat?
That's more of a stretch than Gumby doing calisthenics. LOL. Get real.

If that's what you wanna 'infer' then infer ahead. If you knew about Illinois politics you'd realize they have ex Gov. Ryan already in prison (not the first either) and R. Blagojevich has been under investigation for quite some time. Blagojevich and Obama were mutual supporters of each other as well as both long time Antoin "Toni" Rezko pals. But, that's been known for sometime.
If you wanna 'infer' that Obama has a huge amount of crooked politicians from Illinois in his background and it's really smelly...then go ahead! They sure aren't any 'change' from other politicians. Blagojevich ran on the 'reformer' stance of cleaning up after Gov. Ryan (the one already in prison)....'change' politics

You have to sign a contract in Illinois to be governor. It states that you have to do something illegal, usually in front of witnesses or on the phone, and do it so that it easy to uncover and that you are willing to plead guilty and go to jail for a long time. Its traditional and expected and covers both sides of the aisle.:)

Ill. is just a model of what the country could become if we are not vigilant.
Major crime problems caused by too much gun control. Not to mention the corrupt politics there.

I'm surprised that they are going after this guy. After all, he has a "D" after his name. Why not let him and all the other elites do what the @#$k they please. It's not like they care what the "little people" think anyway.

Should have put Washington DC in that poll ........ Don't think the others can compete with that CROOKED town.

I believe it is a toss-up. The corruption of one is in the news today, and the other the next day... problem is, folks do not seem to think it concerns them... guess again.

I've been trying to tell you guys how our state government works for quite some time now.
Does anybody believe me yet?
Let's not forget the tribune/cubs deal, the tollway, or the hiring investigation that's been going on for at least 4 years now.
Our governor could possibly be the most corrupt public official since Pontius Pilate.

Well we do have a new one joined the field now and lets see how he plays out in 4 years. He may yet take the prize. Time will tell and I'm don't care to watch either. Hussein

Absolute power corrupts absolutely, DeLay got caught on a witch hunt. The governor of Illinois is just a crook. Axelrod stated that Obama talked to the gov about the Senate seat, but Obama already denied it. Obama also denied Ayers and Rezko and Wright. Rezko and the gov are buddies. Doesn't anyone else see a pattern? I hope not. The country needs a good President now. It's very troubling.

Supposedly Hollywood is more of "sin bin" than DC, but I find that hard to imagine.
You'd think Hell would be at least half full, by now. . .
