Well of course shop around most of the time I get a better deal at the wholesalers anyways

I agree, prices are slightly higher than some of the ebay "power" sellers. HOWEVER, based on my experience, their customer service is very good. Just recently UPS lost one of my purchases (based on UPS tracking) and they (professionalequipment.com) did send a replacement w/o any delay.

#1. Know exactly what you are buying (=> do your homework)
#2. Think carefully how important customer support is to you in terms of lost business due to issues in getting your tools/parts when needed - or not getting what you ordered
#3. there is reason why some dealers are charging bit more than others...

I've burnt my "fingers" way too many times while trying to save buck here and there...

as always beach i appreciate your input and your always very helpful.

so that is $210. i can get a fluke for $240.00 with multiple test leads...
im looking now at the features to see how they differ. the extech looks ok.
and i know your not a fluke fan lol.

they are very similar...
ive never used extech and frankly a little on the nervous side as i have thought of these as lower end meters..

are you currently using one? what made you decide on extech?

fluke doesn't bother me. it's all the fluke washed people that bother me :)

now it seems as though everyone is on a testo bandwagon.

neither are cheap. neither are crappy.

we can agree on the veto though :D

i haven't seen anyone around my area with an extech. so that's kinda what interests me. for that matter, there aren't too many people around here with testo either.

extech is a devision of flir, which is a very good company in the thermal imaging world.

i have bought any extech products as of yet, because they aren't in my area. nobody is selling them here. i just found out about them about a month ago, online.

some of thier older stuff "looks" cheap, but looking through the specs on everything, it doesn't look bad.

i plan on getting the clamp meter i posted after the first of the year :)

I love ebay for hand tools. Scored some ridgid aluminum pipe wrenches recently from there. Got 3 used for less than the price of one new.

Electronic stuff like meters unless its a hell of a deal and brand new, id rather just get it at the local supply house.

I have gotten alot of hand tools off of ebay. I have also found some great deals on fluke and ideal meters. I just am really leary about getting stuff like a vac pump or recovery system from them.

You'd be surprised at the tools ppl leave behind on a jobsite, thats how I filled up my toolbox, lol :D, on a side note I've never actually bought any of my tools online, guess I'll check out the sites.
