Do you think this is a glimpse into our future?

A nasty certain outcome.

There is no second amendment in GB. I doubt such thing will ever take place here due to the limited presidential powers and the NRA.
Some gun owners here are in state of alert spending every penny in guns and ammo, the gun shops are yanking their prices due to increased demand and there are all sorts of rumors circulating out there, lets wait and see.

I just returned from a two week training trip to Canada. The students in my class told me it is impossible to own a handgun in Canada and difficult to obtain a permit to purchase a long gun or shotgun. When they finally get the governments permission to own a long gun they cannot actually have it. It must be kept locked up at a gun club and can only be checked out with additional paperwork to go hunting with.

Ammo is another problem and is very expensive with the government taxes and paperwork just to get enough to hunt with.

My Canadian students told me that if someone breaks into your home and attacks you with a knife, hammer or an illegal gun and you harm them in defense of you or your family you will all go to prision. You have no right to defend yourself.

I noticed the high crime rate as reported in the newspaper. Knife attacks and gang problems in the cities are high and rising. And, the Canadian officials are at a loss as to what the cause is or how to deal with it. They are suggesting additional social programs to give teens something to do instead of getting into trouble.

IMO the second amendment is for the purpose of protecting oneself from an out of control federal government. It does not have to specifically say so to have that intent, at the time folks did not trust governments nearly as much as we take for granted now.

Watch the video in the OP carefully. We as a nation have been down the road Britian is on currently. Thank God and common sense we recovered.

However, if we are not dilligent, we may go down that road again and not recover... remember;

The only thing between a country as free as ours used to be, and Germany in the 1930-40's is private ownership of handguns. You would be amazed what a coward a politician really is when faced with an outcome he/she cannot control.

If you do not think this can happen or be attempted here and your politicians will protect us, all you have to do is look at all of them sitting on their azzs right now and not raising hell over Obama's birth certificate situation and defending our Constitution "right now".

95% of gun owners will cow down if requested to turn them over. Only a few will pull the trigger to defend liberty.

Look at those blokes in England, turned all their handguns in. They should have overthrown the government instead. Bunch of pansies.

How many wolves does it take to change the farmer's mind as to how he handles the flock?

Your Canadian students need to read up on their firearms laws, and not just go by what they hear in the media and at the coffee shop! Most of this is NOT true. While it is much more of a hassle for us vs. our southern neighbors, it is entirely possible to buy/own a handgun. There are certain models that are prohibited due to caliber, barrel length or similarly stupid reasons but otherwise we can get most of the same handguns you can. There ARE stringent storage and transport rules and permits that have to be followed and there is effectively NO CCW allowed up here so they are a little more difficult to use and enjoy.

Long guns are a little easier to obtain and use and they do NOT have to be kept at a range or gun club. Not sure WHERE they got that! Once you have a PAL (possesion and aquisition lisence) purchasing and transfering of registration can be done over the phone or online.

Ammo IS expensive, but needs no additional lisencing or paperwork to buy. SOME stores want to record your PAL information when you buy ammo, but this is a company policy NOT required by law!

There is one part where they are mostly correct, and that is if you use a firearm (or any weapon) to defend yourself or family, you may be in as much trouble as the POS that you were defending yourself from! If your're gonna shoot him, make sure he's dead so he can't sue you later! I'd still rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6! Most of the problems come from too many years of Liberal governments and urban populations that have no idea how to take care of themselves or how the real world works. "Those criminals aren't really bad people, they just were -abused, misunderstood, fell through society's net, or WTF ever!" It's too easy to just point to a picture of a "scary looking gun" and say "That is the problem!"

Idiots.

Sorry for the rant, but I hate seeing mis-information being passed along by people without a clue.

Thanks for the corrections and update. As you probably know most people do not actually know their national and/or state firearms laws. Even the police here in the states often are not well informed regarding their own local or state firearm laws. For example, it is totally legal here in my state to openly carry a loaded handgun on your person in public and I have done so. It is interesting when an officer stops you and informs you that you can't do that and when he checks with his superiors finds out that no law is being broken and must allow you to continue on your way. I have been in this very situtation and so have others I personally know.
