I am hoping you can help. I have a Luxpro PSP511 Thermostat controlling a Tempstar 90+ Single stage gas furnace. The system is 3.5 years old. I have the thermostat set to 66 degrees at night with a call to go to 72 degrees at 5:30AM. The furnace comes on at 5:30 as called for, but cycles continually, taking as long as 3-4 hrs to bring the temprature to 72 degress. I spoke to to the service department manager of a local HVAC contractor and he shook his head not having a clue what to do. I would have assumed that the furnace would run continually until the temprature reached 72 degress then began cycling.
Thanks

go here >>> http://www.tempstar.com/dealer.asp?distributor=no

And look for Tempstar dealers in your area who might be more familiar with your unit other than the guy shaking his head. Being it is 3.5 years old ..how long has it been doing this? did you just install the tstat? if so, Have you tried changing the "swing" on the tstat?

Thanks for the ideas, the filter is clean and the Thermostat is the unit installed with the furnace when the home was built 3.5 years ago.

I would agree with the post above. Chances are your thermostat is fine. Check your air filter. You could watch the furnace on a call for heat, if the burners shut off and main blower continue to run. This would be a sign of other problems and will need a service tech to look over. You also may want to make sure all registers supply and return are unrestricted.

May be he had no idea, because he didn't want to give out DIY advise.

Make an appointment for them to come out and check it.
