Do you have the link to quick lit?
I know 4.0 names a new sql server but I am not sure if it is 08 or 05.
Will look it up whe I get back to a laptop.

Go to www.johnsoncontrols.com
Then "building efficiency"
Then "control products literature"
That is the same quick lit JCI techs use.
Pay attention to the software version at the top of the pages you view.

Currently MSEA 4.0 does not support SQL 2008 only 2005. As of 4.1 we are still not supporting 2008. It will probably happen at 5.0. They are switching to .Net 3.5 at 4.1 though.

I know the party line response. But, PMI was not suposed to work with Windows XP either.
It dont matter, they went with FX's instead anyway.

It's not a "party" line. I tried it with my Johnson Branch laptop. They had to reimage it to get it to work again. Johnson has gone to great expense to secure additional licenses to SQL 2005 even though Microsoft has discontinued the selling of the product.

Here is the more believable version. and how Win 2k. Win XP, and PMI story went down.
Johnson screwed up with great expense to secure licenses to SQL 2005, Sales stink and now they have many copies to sell and its obsolete. So to unload them ..lets just tell everyone it dont work with 2008..until we run out of copies of 2005 , then we will release a upgrade and force everyone to upgrade to 2008. Then we drill them twice.

I really like your balanced bitterness. Probably true.
Another reason I don't like software.

Johsnn buys licenses on a per order basis. The last time I ordered SQL from Johnson it came from Microsoft not Johnson. Johnson just places the order to get their software rate. And sales are not down. Quite to the contrary.

You just keep telling yourself that.

I waiting to see how long before jci goes to Capital Hill asking for a bail-out, with the "we're to big to fail" show.

If any of the big three automotive companies go under, it will hurt. I'm not sure if it would be enough to put JCI under. One of the smartest decisions JCI management has made is stearing away from automotive. All of the growth has been outside of automotive.
If the big three fail, there will still be value in the Systems and Battery groups...so I doubt JCI will fold. My prediction is the Battery group will save our butts in the near future...think green with big expensive blue batteries. :D

The 'GREEN' routine is a big corp sales slogan, and mostly for political favor. Many of us have been doing the same thing for years, and just called it a smart thing to do.
I'd agree that jci could serve itself very well with batteries. But my understanding is that these batteries are the big hold-up on the Chevy Volt roll-out.
