View Full Version : Arguing With a Liberal is Like Arguing with Your Wife or Girlfriend

How can you argue with your wife or girl friend? You can't (there are a few exceptions). It is the exact same with liberals. They go off of emotions and how they feel. Facts mean nothing to them. If facts or logic mattered to them then they wouldn't be liberals or socialists. This forum is a good example. I remember not to long ago some liberal member kept saying that conservatives were greedy and wouldn't give to charity. All the studies show just the opposite with all the facts shown to him he still couldn't accept the fact that he was wrong. It has to do with emotions so it is useless. Sometime over time and lots of it they figure it out but not always. Just an observation that I have noticed over the years and felt like sharing it with you all liberals and conservatives alike.:) Have a good day.

Great article , i do agree with the original post as well.
But honsetly why would you be suprised. Liberals are mostly young people , idealistic. Completely about form over function / symbolism over substance. Or they are like the people i worked with for the last 20 years . Union members who only looked at the check and could not see the other side. Actually the other side didnt exist to them. Want to change a liberal into a decent concervative , not a hard liner but a well rounded one? , a well rounded person?
I believe everyone should be self employeed for at least 3 years.
Let them starve and stress out and worry and plan and scrape and then they will FEEL diferently about things.
43 years of having the democratic party shoved down my throat is enough.
Too bad my dad didnt realize he was a republicat untill he was almost dead.
But he still always touted the party line.
What a shame they have no tollerance for anyone but another liberal.
Saddly i do think they are smarter than us. ALL you have to do is sing the party line [just like comunism] then do whatever you want . Oh yeah you just cant have any integrity and if you do , better have a whole bag of plausable excuses.

well, one would think after Glen gets his butt handed to him on a stick ,by his wife, repeatedly. Heheheheh. That he wouldn't pick so many battles that he can not possibly win.Hehehehe. Do the dishes boy and stay on the porch, let the big dogs fight it out:D:D:D:D

Glenn, While your example does bring things to thought, your way of expressing it may well dig yourself a hole...

How about: Arguing with a liberal is like trying to convince a child that a diet of candy is not a good idea... Yeah, that should work...

Seeing as how most liberals I talk with cannot see much beyond themselves and their wants... but then we may have also partially defined the difference between a neo-con and a true conservative.

Interesting article and well written. But the main exception I take with his point of view is that the "Illiterate" of this nation is due to lack of formal education as the cause. I couldn't dissagree more.

It's mainly the illiterates to life that has caused this dramatic shift in this country. It's mainly the college educated young one's that we have raised that have learned most of their lifes knowledge in institutions of higher learing that we have paid dearly for that are the main thrust of this recent movement. And this movement will be with us forever as I don't see how this "socially elite" group will or could ever lean about the facts of life at this stage in their lifes.

Seattle has an extreme high index of higher education. It's difficult to not see a vehicle here that doesn't have a Kerry or Obama sticker. Same for their homes. They are some of the highest educated folks I've ever worked with or around yet they are the stupidest I experienced. And I'm sure this goes for just about evey majoy city across the US.

It seems thier work ethics and common sense has been smothered out of them from the higher education process. They are so full of knowledge yet they know hardly nothing.

This seems to be our future now.

Glenn,
I married the Girl of my dreams 34 years ago and we get along great, but I do understand the "emotions over logic analogy".

I have even told my Wife before that "She would take the advice of a Fast-Food waitress" over mine when her emotions are in charge...

It drives me nuts since the phone rings constantly with people at work and friends needing/taking my advice, yet I can't give her advice and get her to override her emotions with logic....I had to have a Friend teach her how to snow ski after me teaching hundreds of kids how to [at my church].

The Liberals are the same way and even the males seem to be "Feminized" like many Conservatives have surmised.

They ignore laws/past history since they "don't feel right" and abhor harsh punishment for terrible choices.

They are driven more by "feelings" which is the root of "political correctness".

This is not a Male vs. Female thing since Maggie Thatcher was one of my Heroes...

This is only my opinion, but I think it is a maturity thing...

Folks that have spent some time at the school of hard knocks seem to understand life better than those that avoid pain at all costs.

There is something about 'tuffing it out' while doing the 'right thing' (as opposed to taking the easy route out to avoid any pain at all) that grows and matures a person... and I might add this works for both women and men as I have observed.

My personal opinion: Liberals are kids trying to manipulate/control things so they can avoid the pain of growing up. (I bet I get flamed for that one...).

That is great and reflects their avoiding any tough choices and going for what is easiest, not what's best.

I see liberals as usually misinformed (media or academia) immature (Hollywood) or acting out of self-interest. Most people don't practice liberalism with their personal life or family as it's not sustainable. If you never said no to your child problems will soon develop. A UAW member practices common sense at home but then votes to protect his own interests and sees conservatives as a threat to his pay check.

I take it you are married and have kids. that is liberal. I take it that the wife and kids do everything you tell them, in fact they jump at the opportunity. You wouldn't know conservative if it slapped you in the face.

Oh, it just did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to understand ace. He is a liberal, no socialist who claims to be a conservative and claims the rest of us aren't. He apparently has been off his meds for some time now (envolved in a bad accident a couple years ago) and is slightly dilusinal and doesn't exhale if you know what I mean.:)
