That's what mallron does not understand. Not only will those union jobs NOT come back, those that remain will leave, the job market will shrink, and he'll be at home reading classifieds.

No Boot, they're waiting for history to repeat itself by having lots of public works projects to provide the jobs, just like FDR did with the TVA and such.

Instead of dams, this time it will be ???

Has anyone read "The Forgotten Man"? It is chock full of stats and stuff that make it hard to stay awake for, but it still offers the question,

Who is paying for these public works?

Hmmmm......

The unionized people that post here are affliated with the Building and Trades arm of organized labor. Those jobs never left. The jobs are provided by contractors who are just as prone to economc conditions as non-union.. Although it is now slower than in previous years, that reflects the whole industry not just us. Your welcome for the decent pay, 40 hour work week, 8 hour day ect.:)

The problem with your reasoning, Zonk, is that a lot of people will be out of work because their positions have moved to other countries, leaving many to seek employment with companies in, among others, our trade. That makes it an employer's job market. It also makes it harder for small companies to compete with larger ones.

Yep. Better get a newspaper subscription if you don't have one...a newspaper with a long "help wanted" section.

In reality it was you people from Texas that gave us Bush and he turned out to be one of the most liberal presidents ever, Bush was the biggest factor on getting Obama elected, the election was not a vote for Obama, it was a vote against Bush, shame on you Texas:D

umm , correction .... the consensus says children voting pulled him to win .... ie college kids . The others that actually had some kind of understanding of whats going on around the world voted different , and for the grown-ups who voted obama .... well ... they are just uninformed and choose to remain that way .

Truth, though Texas had nothing to do with it.

Bush failed to define his administration. There was never a focus, other then a stated war on terror. That war ends up as us playing police in a target filled environment with us wearing the bullseyes. His executive branch seemed content to sit back, wait for a crisis, and then throw money at it.

The balls in the Dems court now. They have control of the legislature, executive branch and soon also the judicial branch. No more blaming Bush for everything. Lets see if there is any substance to them other then empty rhetoric.
