Hi! Have a new Biasi B10-4 installed. The burner is almost silent. The boiler itself makes almost no noise. BUT!!!! The exhaust (Direct to chimney, no air damper), .26 gauge is VERY VERY LOUD. IT ROARS!!! I guess this is what flame retention boilers do.... The noise is objectionable!!!! My installer said that there is a Biasi or someone else, double wall insulated exhaust kit of some kind. Is this true??? I tried a quick experiment, where I wrapped the top third of the exhaust pipe where it goes into the chimney back about 3' with the thick HD yellow insulation (the type that the boiler is wrapped in) It worked beautifully, got rid of about 98% of the noise. But it is probably dangerous, so I removed it! I did find a similar 1000F wrap online, so that could work??? Any help greatly appreciated!!!!!! Bill

That's too bad. Yes flame retention can be noisy but I have a System 2000 in my house, replaced a Weil McLain. I could always hear the W/M when it was on because the chimney goes right up the wall right outside my bed. But ever since the EK-1 went in, I can't even hear it. I have to open the basement door to hear if it's on and yes, it's a retention head, low mass, oil boiler. Cut my oil bill 40% the first year! I've had it 4-years now and the oil consumption has been lower ever since but unfortunately the costs have gone up. Replaced my AC with a HP last fall and so far this year, haven't used a drop of oil for heating the house! SWEERT! Electric bill dropped 34% with the new HP! Win-Win-Win! I love it!
