Good article.

I think there are forces that will cause the economy to be sour for a few years, regardless of who is in office. If the Dems control both houses of Congress and the White House, there will be NOBODY else to blame... maybe the voters will learn a lesson and bring back a TRUE conservative Congress in 2010 (note that IMO the current GOP are not adhering to TRUE conservative principles).

Hey glenn if the economy under Dem control gets real strong again will you admit you were wrong? I won't hold my breath.

This Gov started buying banks. So the bail out was in your definition socialist. GW's idea. Oh yeah how come the Reps were against the bailout until they added 120 Bill in pork. Then they were for it.

So in your definition Reagan was a socialist because the taxes on the rich will be the same as his.

Also I guess it is not socialist to give a big tax cut to the rich. I guess Only when the working man gets a break is it socialist.

If the Reps believe in trickle down so strongly, then why did bush give a tax rebate to all so it could trickle up.

Finally it used to be CEO's made 20-30 time the average employees wage. Now it's not un-common for it to be 200-300 times the average. I guess you are ok with that.

Watch out I think your neighbor might be a commie. Better watch the paperboy and pizza guy too. :)

Don't kid yourself ga- liberals can always find a way to blame conservatives. It's one of the first rules of being a liberal- The only person on earth not responsible for you, is you.

I do agree with the second part. If Obama wins, hopefully by 2010, people will face the fact of what liberals really want for this country.

It was my understanding that the Reps weren't happy until they added in parts that protected the publics interest , and the Dems allowed those items in trade for pork spending ....

Well what do you expect out of frozen. He is a Democrat and that's all they can do is to tell falsehoods because the truth is never on their side. To admit to the truth would be to admit they they are wrong and are corrupt.

You can't expect a good loyal Democrat to do that do you. They can never enter an honest debate.

The reason I think the libs might get chastized in the public eye is that the DEM Congress has had a lower approval rating that GW Bush... pretty dismal.

I have this theory:

We really have not had a recession deep and long enough to affect almost everyone since around 1990-1991. And as I see it, folks really do not understand what a recession is until they are out of college (around 25 or so ). SOOO: Add 25 and 17 (2008-1991=17), and you get around 42. So most folks under 42 years old have not experienced a recession in the sense that they had to learn to do with/out things, and live low...

My conclusion is that we have a generation of kids that are spoiled... they need to learn that life is not always good... they will in the next few years.

And they will learn the hard way that just because a politician promises it, does not mean it will happen...

Personally, if we get off with only 2 years of h*ll under BHO, I think we will be lucky! I just hope it is enough to teach the kids what life really is about.

Hey GHT I agree almost a 100%..you need to change "pretty dismal" to "freaking pathetic"...IMO..

the biggest mistake any society can make is to vote through their wallet rather than their conscience.

I agree with you there!

I forgot which thread it was, but I think what we need to do is be the loudest squeaky wheel... Congress listens to (and kisses up to) the loudest noise... what we need to do is be the loudest noise... :D

the biggest mistake any society can make is to vote through their wallet rather than their conscience. My wallet tells me the cash flow is slowing down considerably leaving no place to turn.

My conscience says our politicians have been bowing down to the corporations for so long its natural to them now , and expected.

How could the game of politics "change"

It simply cannot.

Why you ask ?

Oh well thats easy.

Take a good intention human being with moral ethics and compassion towards the general public , enter that person into the White house where $$ and promise of a long career is placed into your hands from big corps as a bargaining tool for doing as they advise you .... and whaalaa .... you have someone who suddenly forgot the common working folk , and looks out for his own ass . Thats the same old politics since Rome invented it.

The only difference between then and now .... we can't gather up a crowd of angry civilians to kill the lying dirty politician who broke every promise he made - and get away with it.
