Ive noticed this election that a lot of people and in many cases a lot of people who are very outspoken about politics .......are non voters.

Ive talked to several of these folks in the last couple of weeks and in several cases I heard the same thing...... " I was going to register this year but by the time I decided to....it was too late"

Isnt that wild... especially these folks who scream Clinton or Bush or go on and on like they are some sort of political expert.. and yet they never have voted.....and couldnt find time to vote this year.

The last few elections I here we got these little tickets to indicate we had voted. I hope they continue to give those out....that way when someone starts talking about politics you can ask them to produce their proof of voting... If they dont have any....then you can just walk away from them or tell them to hush......because their opinion is invalid.

I feel right now that Obama may very well walk away with this....about the only hope Mccain has is that Obammys voter base becomes complacent..especially with this Powell endorsement ( which means nothing)...and decide not to vote on election night..... It could happen....

Obamas voter base is very lazy.....If they think he can win without them they will sit the vote out....either playing video games....or getting involved in other non productive activities.

Anyhow.... I bet we all know some non voters.....and I hope we all remind them when they are screaming about their candidate losing or getting cheated out of the election who really was the cause.

You hit the nail on the head, Corny. The very ones who could have made a difference for good in this country laid down on election day for the last 60 years with the exception of the 1980/84 elections. Now we have this crap to deal with and they probably won't be able to vote because they don't care enough to even register. And it pisses me off.

Judging by what history has taught us, Obama's base should be less reliable at the ballot box.

BUT...there are some other factors at play thiis time around. Obama has definitely energized his base, and he's got groups like ACORN in his camp. McCain may not turn on the evangelicals like previous Republicans did.

Who knows what's gonna happen on election day?

We have plenty of folk's that won't bother to vote here as well. Tick's me off when they voice an opinion & then when you ask - they don't care enough to vote. I think voting is our duty instead of just one of our right's. My own Pop was a non voter & I tried (in vain) to get him to vote in every election. Three of his kids alway's vote & four don't bother to vote. The day he passed away I left the hospital & drove straight to the voting booth. It's that important to me.

While Obama's base isn't very reliable at the voting booth, you have to remember Acorn. Just how many dead folk's will be casting a ballot this election when those alive won't bother? Another factor to consider is the media telling us there's no point in bothering to vote since Obama is going to win anyway. If they can convince enough McCain/Palin supporters to stay home election day they will win by default.

As K noted, "who know's what's gonna happen on election day"? I sure don't, but I'll guarantee you I will do my duty and vote.

That is about the worst idea anyone could come up with. The coastal states would run roughshod over the center. The electoral college is fine.
