What a load of crap; he is disappointed in McCain’s selection of Sarah for VP. When he says that Obama is ready and Sarah is not he loses all creditability.

I can understand being concerned about McCain for number of reasons but his choice of Sarah is purely a smoke screen to obfuscate his choice of Obama along racial lines.

Nothing in his past would show that he (Powell) would back a socialist but suddenly he has. I call this for what it is purely a racial choice, if Obama had the same polices and history but he was white Powell would not endorse him.

Here's the skinny on all politics.
Whichever party (repub or demo) you belong to, you can find a way to justify every act/decision they make.
Example; even attempting to convince yourself that Gov Palin would make a good vice president. Or explaining away some of the things that Clinton did.
To say that a man like Colin Powell made his decision based on race makes me wonder who the TRUE racists are. Anything short of endorsing Sen McCain and he is a racist. Un friggin believeable!

In case you missed it, GOVERNOR Palin has run a government, she IS the commander and chief of the Alaskan National Guard.............

what exactly has NObama run????? tell me again? community organizer........

ya that qualifies, for something, but not President.

I personally don't care what color either candidate is, I don't care if they a green with blue dots. What I care about is loosing my identity as an INDEPENDENT AMERICAN.

Spoken like a true blue Democrat! Howard Dean would be proud.

Colored folk's aren't racist if they vote for a colored man, but white folk's are racist if they don't. Makes about as much sence as a screen door on a submarine to me.

BTW - I am a Southern Democrat & I would be very proud to have Sarah Palin as President, let alone VP. She's the only real person running.

I am very dissapointed in Powell. I thought he was a better man. Even though he is retired, his troop's are still fighting and he endorses the enemy. This tells me it is on race alone. Sure hope his Delta guy's don't hold a grudge or he might regret that decision.

I wonder if Condi will be the only colored person in America that votes Republican or if the race card will get her as well. I think she's smart enough to keep her mouth shut either way.

You sure you want to play that race card & see who the true racist are???

Well so much for Colin Powell being an American and not a Black American and so much for him being a Republican. Choosing the most left wing member of Congress for President for a liberal Republican tells us a lot about Colin Powell. He is African American first and foremost and being an American is far down on his list.

After all the Republican Presidents have done for him. Passed over more qualified and experienced Generals to appoint him Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and then he supports practically a communist for President from the Democratic Party. I say good riddance Powell I guess you won't be needing to wear the American Flag on your lapel either now that your are also commie lover.

r404a

You are wrong I am not a racist and just because I believe that Collin Powell made his decision based on race does not make me one.

The man I prefer to be president is black, his name is Alan Keyes. The reason I think that Powell endorsing Obama is because Powell is reversing his entire history to do so. There are many black leaders that have been conservative that are going for Obama because he is black. They have all stated that they chose to vote for him because it elevated blacks in general.

I have customers that are black that have essentially said the same thing, that Obama being president would mean so much for the psyche of the black race/community. It is their opinion that just the fact that a black man could become president would change the way young blacks see their future.

I don't agree kids do not look up to politicians for guidance or as role models they look up to athletes and entertainers. They look up to flashy life styles and money.

I think Powell made the decision he did for just this reason and while I understand it is still a decision made based on race not ability.

I say again if Obama were white or Hispanic and race but black Powell would not vote for him.

I also suspect that Condi Rice will vote for Obama she just will not make it public.

Maybe he will also start attending Obama's hate America church also. Might as well you have to buy the whole pig if you choose him. Perhaps he could make friends with Obama' communists friends also and support giving $845 billion to the UN as Obama has done in his Senate bill which never was passed. I have not given up hope that McCain/Palin can pull it out, do not forget the Bradley affect. Many especially Democrats are unable to admit that they will not vote for Obama because he is black. When it comes down to the actual act they will be unable to pull that lever. Many people that have said in a poll that they will vote for Obama do so because they feel they must in order to not appear racist.

I still say Powell would not endorse Obama if he were not black!!

Who is spouting hate we are expressing our opinions. I don't remember anyone saying we would lose respect for Condi if she voted for Obama. I said I think she will. I think that because she is black and blacks all seem to believe that it is more important for their race and the country that black be elected than the possible repercussions it could mean long term.

And for what it is worth I will say the same things to anyone in person I say here. In fact I have had very similar conversations with blacks that I know which is where I have formed my OPINIONS. I have also read articles stating many of the same facts.

My opinion of Powell was diminished because I thought he was a stronger person.

I cannot in good conscience condemn any black person that is voting for Obama for the reasons I have stated, I cannot even say I would not do the same. That does not make it right or palatable.

Several here are very disappointed in Mr. Powell because they feel that he has betrayed the military which I don’t completely agree with but I also see their point.

For a conservative and a business owner Obama is a potential for this country especially business wise. We do not feel that McCain is much better but any improvement is beneficial. From your profile you are not in business and rely on government to pay your salary so I see why you don’t understand our concerns. There are also several on this forum that say they are business owners that also don’t seem to get it.

It's not a race thing. Rush can stick a sock in it.

It's a progressive thing. IN the mind of Mr. Powell it's time for an aggressive push away from so-called conservatism.

If the modern-day Republican party is the best there is, he thinks it's time to shove off and try something else. Given that Dems could reap a supermajority in Congress AND get O'Bama, I'd sooner vote my conscience (third party) than vote for O'Bama.

It's going to be the New New Deal. Barry's remarks toward Joe the Plumber tell it well--redistribution of wealth like you've not seen before

Powell isnt a racist.

He is a misogynist.

Didnt the Democratic primarys prove that most people will vote for a black man before a woman?

I have no reason to think that he hates women and do not consider him a racist.

I believe he has simply made the choice (for his race) that electing a black man to president is paramount to the detriment Obama will mean to the country. That does not make him a racist just in our eyes weak or misguided.

Don't be so sure there classic. The dems do have a lock on the gay vote don't you know and maybe that's another reason for some to vote for him on this forum also.:D:)

You think he would of edorsed Clinton? It was a tounge-in-cheek reply anyway.

As far as lacking understanding. I vote for LIBERTY. Not one of our candidates are even mentioning the words LIBERTY, LIMITED GOVERNMENT, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!

So as a vote of protest Im voting for OB because I believe he will be the worst one to promote those items. Hopefully it will get so bad that people will wake up and understand that a socialistic, alturistic, and collectivist society does not promote advancement but slavery.

Then maybe the Rep. or some other party will rise from the ashes and realize what principles our country was founded on and act on it.

A vote for McCain would be the same as voting for OB but the pain will be slower. I prefer the quick pain of OB than the slow agonizing pain of McCain.

BTW I was going to vote Rep. until the bailout bill passed (with a ton of more pork added to it). It was then that I realized that neither of the 2 parties have our countrys principles at heart...only platitudes.

I have not read the entire thread, but here are my thoughts:

Colin Powell is an opportunist...

He probably thinks there is a position for him in the new government...

Funny how Wash DC works... Or does not work...

Thats right! Its a choice. A bullet in the brain....or....a slow cancerous death.

Or another theory. No president accomplishes what he is campaigning for anyway. So I'll vote for the worst one.

Give me....oh never mind. You would'nt get it anyway. :p

Go ahead and do away with yourself, just don't vote in the worst candidate to try to take our country down.

Hopefully you are one of the disenfranchised anyway. :o

(You do know that the founding fathers wouldn't have voted for the 'worst candidate' in order to hasten the downfall of the country, don't you?)

Jamaican patois is tough to follow

The Scotch version (accent) of English is the second hardest to understand.

I hear accents from everywhere in the english speaking world down here

Yeah well I got another one for you that's tough to understand. An Aussie from the outback. I sat on a plane with an Aussie from the outback from Sidney to Saigon coming back from an R&R in 69 and I could only understand about half of what he was saying. Had no problem in Sidney but those guys from the outback had the heaviest Aussie accent you could imagine.

The founding fathers would have voted for Ron Paul in a heartbeat. You may want to look at my other post again, it shows it all.

Americans make good lemmings, and they will march to the tune of our wonderfull propaganda machine, that sooting flickering tube that so hypnotizes all, americas all time baby sitter.

Now I'm not sure if Powell voted due to race, is it possible that he may know something we dont, or maybe its payback for being made a lying fool in front of the world ??

Either way it isnt going to matter anyway, cause until and when we remove the real cause, and get rid of the worlds money changers, which neither one of the present runners want to address, its just going to get worst. Remember many posts before this one I told you all its going to be a wild ride, well you all better put on you seatbelts real tight, our financial problems are going to get a lot worst, and those without a seatbelt may need the handouts that Barry Soerto has promised.

You all deserve this mess....
