The brand I install uses ball valves on all there units for the low side. What benefit does this really offer? The biggest problem is that they are overheating and failing on install. I always use a wet rag and am careful when using my torch. Is anybody else haveing the same issues?:(

We have a brand we are having this problem with. Last one that was leaking, tech saw on the net to open & close it a few times and get some oil into the gasket and it would stop. And it did. I'm just concerned it's not a permanent fix.

Is it a Lennox? If not, what brand is it. Information like this, whether it be official or not validates suspected problems that we might have and aid in troubleshooting leaks, which are already the biggest pain in my arse of all problems.

A post here a couple years ago had a good tip. Remove the cover on the valve and fill the wrench opening with water. The valve won't get above the boiling point of water. It might need to be filled a couple of times.
